anyone with a automatic?
I got a 2013 with a auto ( 1st time with a auto in a really long time) but I have a whining noise coming from the tranny when it is placed in a gear but disappears when in park or neutral. I did take it to a dealership and they emailed the ford tech hotline and they said to compare it to another like car but they don;t have one. So then they told them to turn on the AC and turn the fan on the 2nd speed and if they can still hear the noise then there is a problem but then you can't hear it from inside the car.
The nose doen't go away then, if you are outside of the car you can still hear the whine. I was jsut wondering if anyone else has this issue or if I am just being to picky?

I believe most Mustangs sold are Automatic, so the odds are pretty good someone here has one - yuk yuk!
Whining is usually not good (you get double-secret probation) and it's especially not good when your ride does it. Lots of techs and Ford reps here - sound advice to follow soon...!!!

They identified the noise as either Converter or Pump noise, and are replacing both. I am waiting for a call right now from the Service Adviser to find out if the replacement parts remedied the noise.

I have a ’13 5.0 with the 6R80. I also noticed a slight whine similar to a gear driven cam but much less pronounced than that. My guess is it’s the pump which, depending on its design (Twin spur verses gear-rotor), what I’m hearing would be an acceptable amount of noise. My opinion: IF there are no other drivability problems and no other noises that sound ‘catastrophic’ in nature, I would suggest you drive it…you have at least 36,000 miles to figure it out. If there is something bad going on inside the tranny it’s going to show itself well before that many miles have elapsed.
