2013 gt 5.0

Probably a dumb question but i just got her an dont care,
but the ford dealership that sold me this brushed it off like its okay to put unleaded gas in a 5.0, but everywhere i look its like premium...come on gear heads give it to me...

A Minimum of 87 Octane Is Required of Your 2013 Gt. All Current Fuels are Unleaded. It's Simply The Octane in Question. I Have Enclosed the PDF of The Fueling Section of The 2013 Owners Manual!

Also, if your check your owner's manual, it also states that a minimum of 87 octane fuel is required... Therefore, unless the vehicle in question has serious mods, such as forced induction or cams which require premium 91-93 octane fuels, it is completely safe to run regular 87 octane fuel in your 5.0 Mustang. That being said, welcome aboard!

I see your question has been answered so I won't repeat, except to mention that it will make a little more power (might not even be noticeable) on higher octane such as 91 or 93 (but will run find on 87 unless modified)

is there a tuner that can go back an forth like switch back to 87?

Just stick with the highest octane in your area. The dealership I bought my '14 GT at told me the prior owner used 87 octane in all of his low local 8,800 miles, and they also filled my car up with 87 when we headed home. After reading the owner's manual I immediately went with the 93 octane, and after a few tanks and some spirited driving, absolutely noticed a nice difference in performance. When I take long highway trips in the future I will probably use 87 or 89 for those easy highway miles when you rarely need to 'push' the car. The computer will adjust.

most tunes are written for a specific octane; and I think they somewhat "defeat" the automatic adjustment for octane that is built in to the factory sytem/tune

but when you buy "tunes" you usually get more than one, and you can ask for a different tune for different octane levels; but you have to first make sure the octane in the tank is correct, and then reload a different tune, to switch between octanes

if the price difference is not a big deal to you, you can just run 93 (or whatever is highest available in your area) like NC14GT said .... just make sure you don't run a 93 tune on octane lower than 93 because you can get bad pinging/detonation
