No, that's what caused his earlier VCT problems.

Yeah but I wonder if damage was done while the VCT was offline.

I have no idea. How much would it cost to build my motor?

That's like 8k.

Ok I'm at work right now so I think I'm going go have my brother go pick up a spark plug for me to see if changing it would help. ( If it's blown , don't know yet)
What kind of spark plug should I buy?

just have him do a compression check on the cylinder.. if you still have good compression, then change plug, check coil..

According to 5.0 Mustang Mag, the Coyote 5.0 is a freewheeling engine. Therefore, the VCT failure would not have led to valves hitting the piston top.
If it is an interference engine, the VCT failure could result with valves clashing with each other. That can result in damaged/bent valves - which could explain the oil smoke.
Expensive, but a lot less than damaged pistons.

Of course, the fact that its #8 points to the much discussed (alleged) tune failure.

Ok I'll do that but tonight I'm gonna actually pull the spark plug out and see if it's bad or not. How much can I actually drive it like this? Why do you think it's smoking? Lol
Autozone and Oreily don't even have the spark plugs!

Park it!

If it is a broken ring like some have had, then you are risking scoring the cylinder and then for sure you're in for big bucks.

What kind of smoke are we talking about here? Black? Whitish-blue?

if it was ping(detionation) or fuel starvation, the ring can be shot. the burning smoke, was either 1 of 2 things. Burning of a ton of fuel(unlikely) or oil itself is burning. If you are burning oil, the rings on that cylinder are shot. Do a google search on spark plugs and find a picture of one that is form a engine that burnt alot of oil.. compare them to yours. hell take a pic and post it here.. a Compression check would tell us everything, if I am not mistake, you should see about 180PSI(someone chime in and correct me if I am wrong).

I haven't been driving it. How did they fix it? I couldn't find any threads on the issue.

Thanks.

Then you've got problems that a spark plug isn't going to fix. That's oil smoke, which means oil is getting past the rings into the cylinder when it fires. So most likely you've got rings broken, or piston broken. And from the recent #8 cylinder problems I'd say its likely a broken ring land.

Were you running Brenspeed Race or Street tune? Have you contacted them? Did they leave the knock sensors stock?

Alright thanks! I'll post pictures as soon as I get home tonight. I've been getting 12 city and like 15 highway for the past week or so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Unfortunately, vbulletin forum search sucks bad. But you'll still get a few.

But google #8 piston failure and you'll find more than you want to know.
