For cars built on/before 04-25-10

Edit: I know there's talk on other threads. But figured to just put the info in it's own thread under the proper topic.

To be clear, it is a fix issued for the problem, not a campaign to replace clutch pedal assemblies because of a safety concern. If you don't experience the symptoms of the problem, then Ford does not not automatically notify you for the fix as is done with a recall.

All those with this issue should print out the pdf document shown in the article to take it to the dealer so the dealer can't play dumb and say they don't know anything about it.

The link on jalopnik wouldn't work for me, found this instead. Strange, the V6 pedal is the same as a brembo car but a standard GT uses a different one.

Exactly. People often confuse the two and they're quite different.

I'd love to see the new assembly next to the pre 4/25 assembly up close and see what has changed. Sounds like just a return spring for the clutch.

The only way it differs from that of a recall is that ones safety isn't at risk.
But in any case, the part isn't performing the way it was meant to.

re·call (r-kôl)
tr.v. re·called, re·call·ing, re·calls
1. To ask or order to return: recalled all workers who had been laid off.
2. To summon back to awareness of or concern with the subject or situation at hand.
3. To remember; recollect. See Synonyms at remember.
4. To cancel, take back, or revoke.
5. To bring back; restore.
6. To request return (of a product) to the manufacturer, as for necessary repairs or adjustments.

Works for me.

No..a TSB is how to fix an issue based on SYMPTOMS that you ARE experiencing.
TSB is NOT an open invitation to get your car fixed for something you are NOT experiencing, or may experience in the future.

If Ford ASKS you to bring your car in based on a manditory or voluntary RECALL, it is something safety related
(IE possible fire, or possible safety concern)

A TSB (Technical Service Bullettin) is not something you will have done if there isn't a problem.

There IS a difference.

As Boomer pointed out, TSB's do not entitle one to anything, unless your car was built in the batch of VIN #'s in question and is experiencing the problem noted in the TSB.

Dealers do not "play dumb" on TSB's. The run your VIN # through Ford's Oasis program and if your VIN # is not one of those in the production run in question, then no TSB will show for it. Dealer rightfully will tell you that there is no TSB applicable to your car. That's not playing dumb.

If your car is experiencing the problem noted in the TSB, the dealer has every reason to fix it for you. 1) They get paid by Ford to fix it (revenue for the dealer), 2) They get a happy customer with their problem resolved, and 3) Did I mention that the dealer gets paid by Ford to fix it? As long as the claim is legitimate, then Ford pays the dealer for repair your car.
