Steering Wheel

Do you think I could find a 2010/2012 Premium steering wheel at a junk yard cheaper than from Ford or the aftermarket sites? The one somewhat like it (the Boss one) at American Muscle is around $315 on sale...seems a little steep.

How much do you want to pay for a premium wheel? I'm thinking about getting the Boss wheel and need to defray my costs.

Good steering wheels are kinda of had to find in the recycle yard. They often get bent or bloodied before a new car goes to the junk yard. Many recyclers will sell on eBay if they get something like that nice.

This will help with getting the controls to work.

This explains how to get the steering wheel radio controls to work.

I don't know, $150? I would prefer to keep my original buttons to use with the boss steering wheel and give the buyer the Boss buttons.

If you just want a Premium steering wheel for 2010-2012 Mustang, check out ebay here:http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-2012-Fo...ht_1041wt_1348 These are brand new takeoffs from Roush, only $99. I bought mine when they were $89. I got it a few days ago and had it installed, and it is superior to the base plastic wheel. I can't believe how terrible that steering wheel was. I'm still working with a dealer to try and get the radio controls programmed. Either way, it's a huge difference and cheap for a brand new wheel!

What were you charged for installation? Called local dealer they want $180 since the airbag needs to be swapped out…seems a little steep, has anyone done this themselves, is it fairly easy?…or if someone else did it, what did they charge?

Replacing the wheel is really easy, see the following link. Be sure to disconnect the batter before starting. It took me 30 minutes and I went really slow, but it sure is worth the upgrade.

Where can I get just the base v6 (no premium sound) leather wrapped wheel? I only have the cruise controls on my plastic wheel and am just looking for a quick swap with the same functions. Thanks all!

Your best bet is to check out the bullitt or previous gen gt500 steering wheels. Originally on the 05-09's, they fit current ones too.

I bought my 2012 Premium leather wheel from a guy on SVTP in the classified section. He gets them from Roush, they are new take offs. $125 It came with the factory plastic shrink wrap and Ford bar code on it. It does not have a Sync button but does have all the other controls. You need a Ford dealer to program it so the radio controls work. Cruse works with having it programed.

I had my boss wheel beefed up and leather wrapped. I hated the original material. they also did some custom stitching. feels amazing. cost was a different story.

you can swap over the wiring harness and buttons to like for like wheels. Doesn’t require any sort of programming.

This is great news. The only reason I was staying clear of buying the 10-12 wheel is because I heard that the buttons required the upgraded sound system to get the volume controls to work. Given this, the new wheel would retain "dead" buttons.

As far as the wiring...Will I need new harnesses or other elements to make the new buttons function?
