PSA: Updating the Maps on the Nav does not take 30 minutes
I ordered a nav update from Ford and ran it over the weekend. Ford's time estimates ranged from 20 minutes to an hours. It actually took about 5 hours to update! The car is supposed to be running for the whole update, ended up burning about 1/4 tank of gas. In hindsight, I should have bought a battery tender and had it hooked up instead of running the engine for 5 hours.
I guess I will put my tender on mine, but with the ignition on for that long maybe put the jump charger on 10 amps, it acts like a trickle charger so it should not overcharge the battery. I decided I was tired of my maps still being stuck in 2012. 2019 is still 7 years newer
On my 2013 Mustang it is a 4 Disk set that you put in the CD/DVD player and like DJ said it needs a license key, on my 2013 F150 it change the SD card in the console. Difference from the Entertainment system in the Mustang to My Ford Touch in the F150.
I already paid for mine and received them in the mail. Someone I know bought the discs for his and has 2 cars that needed the update, his wife's Lincoln was the one he bought it for and he went to put it in the Mustang and it did not work so he bought just the Maps update for the Stang after.
