Need a boost in sound

Hey Guys,

So, I am looking into increasing the quality of my sound system. I have a base car with SYNC only.

Can I somehow swap the SHAKER system in? Also, i have a vert and would ike a sub. I take it, the subs are different..

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks guys

The shaker system is trash. I wouldn't waste the money on it. It's expensive to retrofit plus you need to buy door skins to accommodate the door woofers.

You can get a decent setup for around $500. I like kicker. Moderately priced. A 10" kicker sub, 600 watt amp, box, and amp kit should be less than $500. There's lot of write ups about it. It will sound 100x better.

I definitely agree there, I had the shaker in my 07 and then even in my 15 and the 15 had a sub that squeaked, Ugh that was a nightmare.

I've already replaced the door speakers and while using the USB option the music is pretty clear! I want to keep, sync but I just wish I had a little cleaner high ends, and some bass, not looking for the pounding beats but just some bass.

Anything you could recommend to add to the stock system

I swapped out the front speakers with Polk Audio 5.25" Component and 1.25" tweeters,
Swapped out the rear speakers with Pioneer TS-A6885R 6X8 4-way speakers
Added a Rockford Fosgate R600X5 amp
Added a 12" Rockford Fosgate P2D2 Subwoofer

Total cost was about $600 once wiring kits were included.

That gives me 50W RMS to the 4 channels and 300W RMS to the subwoofer. The car sounds great and pounds hard enough that you can feel your hair move with the bass.

Thanks for the responses so far guys!

I should have mentioned i have a convertible, So I have 2 front door speakers which i swapped out to 3-way speakers, and then the 2 read speakers int he sides of the rear quarter.

does anyone know of a good solution for verts? i love that MTX, and would have gone with that right away but it won't fit convertibles..

Did convertibles come with a shaker sub option?

I believe Zen Enclosures makes a corner mount subwoofer box made specifically for 2005-2014 Convertible Mustangs. It's not as pretty as the MTX, but it's no where near as expensive either.

Thanks man!

So my whole purpose for this thread was because I felt like I wanted to retain the factory or stock system because I liked sync and just wanted a little better sound, then, yesterday I could t get sync to work right for the life of me. I may be looking into a head unit that will play off of a USB and that can connect to my phone via Bluetooth

I have a 2014 convertible. I wanted to keep all the trunk space for traveling. I got a Kenwood KSC-SW11 under the seat powered subwoofer. This was along with a new head unit and 4 speakers. The subwoofer sits under the passenger seat and sounds excellent. I would consider the under the seat option for your subwoofer.
