Module reprogramming with IDS

Hi,

I want to change some as built code for the ACM (basic to shaker 500 upgrade). When I open the Module programming option, a new set of option is offered : Module reprogramming & Programmable Module installation. I tried to use the first option but there is only the module APIM being displayed. The second option, does not allow me to change the code.

Is there a way to change only specific as built code for ACM ?

thanks,

Robert

Robert,
The best way to change the ACM code is to find another mustang with all the changes you would like to have. Then you can copy the vin number and run it on the Motorcraft Support web sight. That way you can obtain the asbuilt acm 727 code.
You can then transfer that code to your acm with the IDS/VCM. I'm not sure what IDS/VCM you are using, but it must complete download to perform the PMI.

Hope that helps.

Data174,

I found many VIN on EBAY, various setup and used the Motorcraft site to download all these vin's as built codes. Why do you mean by "must complete download to perform the PMI" ? Sorry to ask, I'm new to IDS and can't find a good link to understand what is to be done to achieve the module re-programming. Thanks for having chiming in.

When you connect the IDS/VCM to your vehicle you should see at the right hand bottom of your IDS screen that you have a complete connection.
You must start a new file so the IDS/VCM downloads your vehcle information. Then you can go to PMI and select ACM and enter the asbuilt code you would like to enter. Unfortunately the 727 asbuilt code is a hex program, so you really have no idea what the numbers and letters stand for. You will have to enter the 727 code manually line by line. Make sure you save your vehicles origina ACM code, just in case you have a problem you can return to the original.
Also you must have a working IDS/VCM program that is active.

Al,

Following your instructions guided me towards the ability to make the change. I ended up doing it by few additional step though.
I will explain them to you, if you ever attempt this on your side, or for other reason (module programming), it might help too.

-I did all you were suggesting but the PMI did not do the thing since it was not allowing me to input new as built codes. At the least, this was the situation I encountered with my IDS/VCM package. This option seems to be used only when replacing an old module for a new one, but without the ability to change as buils codes. IDS copied the old code, keep them in memory and download them in the new module.

-I then used tha as built option, and query for the ACM, I received a message as the unit was not the expected unit, or some sort of message, and was then prompted to enter as built codes for my records. I then input the first two rows of codes from my Boss and all remaining codes which were similar between my original ACM and the shaker 500 one, except the shaker has more code lines to fill up, which I did using the as built codes I found from a GT VIN equipeed with the shaker 500 option.

The aux in is back and working well now.

I just found a place lately where I could order the main harnesss for the sync retrofit kit, and ordered it this week. I have all other components for the sync integration (sync module, mirror with mike, mike harness, usb cable & the right steering switches.

I will then install this and hopefully have a functional sync system.

The shaker 500 unit I bought has the satellite radio enable and functioning too as a bonus. I have the antenna but it is not installed yet, I have to find a converter from the antenna connector to shaker 500 antenna port, but I can sweep between the satellite chanels available on the ACM. Also I did replaced the original speakers by Pioner ones, 6x8 along with speakers wires adapter, so no cutting or splicing and speakers fits perfect no trimming or drilling, just as OEM install.

I won't say that the sound quality is a one of the kind one, but surely much more joyfull to listen, increased power and way better sound quality, mid range & bass, in particular. This, should have been the bare minimum provided by FORD, as minimal equipment, to my humble opinion.

Thanks Al for your time, It helped me to figured it out at the end.

Robert.
Happy that you had a chance to experiment with the ACM 727 code. Like I indicated the hex codes are specific to each vehicle. Loading the 727 code line by line is only way to PMI the ACM. You are correct, the IDS will try to use the asbuilt program. The only person that I have used to program my Navigation radio is 4dTech. 4dTech has specialized electronics to program all facids of the ACM. BTW he will not release his technique.
Glad to see you progressing with your project.

Regards, Al

I have a 2014 base Mustang gt. I went in and replaced the body floor harness with one out of a California Special. The radio works for me outside of the Aux Button....basically is useless. I don't have the Sat Nav, Bluetooth, etc.

My question to you guys is, can I go through the As-built codes to reprogram my ACM or do I need to go through the APIM to do this? All I need is for the car to recognize the fact that there is a aux cable. I don't want to buy aftermarket because I believe I will have the same issue.

It seems like all I need is for my Ford tech to download the all of the 727 codes off of the Motorcraft website (using the VIN I found) and then he can use the IDS to program my ACM?
