I think I made a mistake not getting the navigation system

That kit looks terrible IMO. I don't like how it sticks out and steps down to the buttons. At $750, I think there are better kits on the market which integrate a screen or double-DIN unit in without looking tacked on.

What systems do you recommend?

I'm going with the iDatalink Maestro myself.

I agree the Raxiom looks horrible

Have to agree. I think they could have executed this better.

I will also be going with the I-datalink solution coupled with a Kenwood H/U. IMO it is the best looking setup out there, and gives you the added benefit of having OBDII info available as well. Plus if you ever sell the car, the stock face-plate and H/U just goes right back in.

This, but without the dual additional outlets. The whole bracket is adjustable, so it can plug into the upper center outlet, and point the Tom Tom GPS towards the driver. They make these for all models of To Tom GPS's.

I love the electronics package. While driving at night I tell my car the destination, set the temp and change the radio. Don't have to touch anything other than the push to talk button.

Have about 500 songs on the hard drive. Another 1500 on my external hard drive plugged into the center console.

IMO it's worth the upfront money. I didn't want to be bothered with finding a head unit, installation, etc. plus having the electronics package increases resale.

"From the moment cars equipped with MyFord Touch rolled off the assembly line two short years ago, the infotainment system has been a black eye for the company.

It has been plagued by glitches. It blacks out. It freezes up. It stops working. It requires numerous software updates. It refuses to connect to drivers' mobile phones. It fails to respond to touch commands. Not all of the time, mind you, but when it does fail to work as promised, critics quickly complain.

And now those complaints have landed
Ford in court. The Center for Defensive Driving has brought a class-action lawsuit against the automaker in U.S. District Court, alleging the company knowingly concealed defects and advertised the products as fully functional. It seeks damages in excess of $5 million."
Sync is awesome. I stayed away from the Nav unit though. Sync Destinations App is pretty nice too. I had a 6 CD changer in the Focus, and never used it, not even once in 5 years of ownership. All my music is on my 32 gig flash drive. Plug and play. Love Sync. If I had any complaint it's that someone hasn't come up with a mount that uses the 12v power port on the dash for my phone. Or, for that matter, a replacement cover for that cheap looking one that it comes with (I can't believe no one has made a billet door for that port??)

I've got the OEM nav. I'd rather have an aftermarket head unit. You can pick up a pioneer one for under $400 with Bluetooth and then its another $200 or so for the harness and dash kit. Way better functionality and you can expand way easier if you wanted to add sub's and amps in the future. I bought mine used so it already had it. I wouldnt shell out the extra cost if I was buying new.

There are probably a lot of people that would buy/trade with cash that OEM Nav unit from you. It's a hassle to do almost any type of audio modifications to these cars. I have been working with car audio for many years and Ford made this particular modification quite expensive and bothersome to complete. I am personally going to try a completely custom dash piece here very soon. I have found several options to add navigation to the car but they all seem to have something that I don't like about them. The Metra kits are horrible looking. The Scosche kit looks good but I have a Manual and the radio being so low in that kit is a problem. The Maestro kit is by far the best but having the climate controls in the radio would be aggravating. Plus, I really like my climate controls where they are and they way they look. Why couldn't they have just made the climate controls and the radio separate?

When I searched for my car in May, I dismissed out of hand in-stock Mustangs that had the electronics package. Most that I saw also had the back-up camera and those 2 options added an enourmous amount of extra cost to the MSRP.

I like the way the dash looks and I personally feel that the large screen detracts from it's appearance. But the bigger reason was that I could see little use for it given my purposes.

The extra several thousand dollars not spent on the electronic pkg/camera allowed me to justify new wheels, springs, axlebacks, and other smaller mods almost immediately after I brought the car home.

Since so many of you have iPhones with navigation technology, don't you think that having navigation in-dash is redundant?

Yeah... That's why I retrofitted it, despite iPhone with Nav apps etc.. It is so much nicer...
First of it actually remembers your audio source (USB/Bluetooth)... Then the whole menu stack is so much easier, automatic a/c and last but not least navigation...
I am happy with it all in all. Better than before.

Nahhh. I don't even use the nav, but I like the way the screen looks. I think it cleans up the dash. I hate the pixelated font used on the stock radio display. I also like having the map up while driving, makes it feel like it's radar and I'm watching for enemies

Yep, I bought it. It's not needed, probably not worth the money, but nice to have.

I bought my car without it, but ended up retrofitting it. I enjoy having it. I certainly have used the nav functions - and yes a smart phone gives you way more than these navs can, but I use the functions on the nav rather than my phone and it makes me feel like I'm back in the 80s driving KITT.

I would also point out that when you order the nav, you are not just getting a navigation unit, but also the dual climate as well. Dual climate is not available on non nav cars.
