How do you mount your GPS?

I was wondering how everyone else is mounting their GPS unit. I have a Tom Tom and was thinking about buying this, but I'm afraid it might stick out too much.

Go to radio shack and just buy a universal mount.

I use Arkon's iPhone friction mount that is similar to this one for the TomTom:

bean bag mount. which I usually keep on the floor of the back seat. It doesn't slide off the dash no matter what.

I keep mine in the console and you're right, it doesn't slide off easily.

I use my phone and just leave it in the cup holder connected to bluetooth so it comes over my speakers. You have to use a program like iHeartradio and then just pause the music. The navigation directions will still come over your speakers. This is what I do and don't ever have to worry about looking around. Or use Sync Destinations to navigate. It will send the directions to your car. You have to be not moving until you are done sending and have your GPS enabled on your phone to use it though. Works good either way.

I hard mounted my GPS.....well it's a Tablet really!
Rough draft of the mod....but I never finished it. Now I just rest the tablet between the shifter and the HVAC ***** and it works pretty good.

This is what I will be getting as soon as my car is delivered:
Amazon.com: ARKON GN097-USB Pedestal Lighter Socket Mount with integrated Mini USB Power for Garmin: GPS & Navigation Amazon.com: ARKON GN097-USB Pedestal Lighter Socket Mount with integrated Mini USB Power for Garmin: GPS & Navigation
Note the customer image from someone that has a Mustang.

I thought the 12v outlet being up near the top of the dash was a clever idea on Ford's part. This takes advantage of that nicely.

Plus I hate suction cup and vent mounts with a passion.

That thing looks way too long, will it not stick out of the dashboard too far?

It looks like you don't have to use that second piece if you need it to be shorter:

Nothing against GPS.. But I have no use for them truthfully, the reason I did not get the upgraded Shaker is I am old school and I live on a island.. Eventually I would hit water.. LOL.. Seriously though I see so many people having them on everyday and i do not get it. If I want the traffic report I can listen to local news or check online before I leave work. why do so many people use GPS?????

I only use mine when I'm going where I've never been and Houston is such a huge, spread out place, that happens fairly often.

That is how mine in mounted also. I did find out I drive out from under it with a hard acceleration.

As for using them, I find it so handy to locate thru side streets when traffic is held up or road repairs block travel. Mine is in a lot of times but not always.
