Installing extra power port in back and moving front port

I was installing another 12V power port on the back of the centre console for my kids to plug in something.

I was just going to piggy back off the power port inside the glove box in the centre console. But when I hooked up the ground to the ground and power to the power and then reconnected the battery, the power wire got extremely hot. No shorts anywhere that I could find.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also moced the power port from the dash down to the side of the centre stack. I had to do this because i put a start button in that spot.

Wait, what...? 7 minutes later after you posted your port updates?

Doesn't look too bad, should buff right out.

Ok, ok... but it's a bumper cover, paint, maybe a little bit of the internal bumper... right?

Sorry to see it fer sure.

About 3000 bucks damage.

luckily my tail lights are not damaged. Found out the insurance would only replace parts with what the car was built with.

I am looking for a different company now after repairs are done.
