HELP installing carbon dash pieces
HELP installing carbon dash pieces
Okey Dokey....my lovely bride purchased the carid carbon dash kit. I don't know anything about what it's suppose to look like, but it seems pretty **** nice. I went to an acquaintance who does high end details. Every time I go there he has ferarris, Lambos, z06..... I asked him about the install. Clearly he wasn't interested in helping much as he started with horror stories about how it takes days to do.
So, I'm asking those of you who have done this, what are the pitfalls I should look out for? Are there tricks for making it easier? Any advice would be appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a PITA. Any pics of the stuff?
Clean all the surfaces with denatured alcohol first then apply the adhesive promoter. My kit came with promoter in tubes with glass vile inside break the glass and it soaks the cotton. Wipe that around the outer edge of the dash you want to cover first then fill around any opening in the sticker do as many places as you can till the adhesive promoter runs dry. The promoter should dry before you put the part in place peel back one edge or corner then hold the opposite corner in place and lay the whole piece down with the uncovered corner going down last. Then lift the covered section back up and peel the remain cover off. Press firmly down and it will stick. If you run low on adhesive promoter it is available at stores that sell body shop and paint for cars.

Will do it later today when the weathern hits 60's....winter in California.
Quick a shot my droid phone of center console and new cue ball shifter. I didn't use the entire kit as I like the mix of brushed aluminum dash with the Carbon. I pretty much just did my center console, the surrounds for the door handles and the head light control. I'm going to get billet for my window vents and my door/window control. Once it's complete I'll get some good shots.
