dying chrome bilets
I have been looking at ways to mod the interior switches when I get my candy 2011 stang next spring. I really want the **** and switches to be red not chome. I was reading a rc forum and they use ritz dye to color the chrome parts. This may work with plastic but has anyone heard of it being done with automotive parts. Since I have never used billet parts I dont know if it can be done or not. Doee any one have any ideas

You can have them painted at a body shop with a "red tinted clearcoat", if you can understand that. The body shop should know what you mean. So basically, it is like an 80% opaque clearcoat, where you can still see the metal underneath, but the parts will be clearly red. I'll post a link to an RS4 with the aluminum trim, that the shop I used to work at did a complete stereo/interior overhaul. They "dyed" the factory aluminum trim blue to match the paint, but you can still see the brushed metal grain under the blue clearcoat.
