don't know if its just me having this problem with my 6MT, but often when am driving or shifting my arm barley touches the center console button and the console keeps opening. Annoying....

 

Been discussed and cussed many times.

You can always just lock it, then it won't open.

Lock is accessed through the rear of the cupholder area.

I ordred a leather cover for the door/armrest on mine, once installed, it prevents this issue, by elevatiing your arm above the button by around a quarter inch. And it looks fantastic.

 

My elbow never touches the console when shifting...just the way I was taught to shift manuals....my arm is free to move with the shifter....at 6'3" the seat is far enough back too. I do see how it can open when not wanted though.

 

I think the lock for the center console is only available on cars with the security package, but I could be wrong.

I'd love to lock mine but I get in and out of it almost daily.

 

My car has the lock, no security package.

 

Ditto...no security package but have the lock on my 2014.

 

I'm pretty sure they all have the lock.

 

Same happened to me on my 6MT. Now my issue is that I can't open the center console without flipping the cup holder open to pull up on it. Seems the clip inside wore.

 

I looked at a friends that had a release issue. It seems his console lid had become sprung. Dealer took care of it.

 

I know 2012 don't have the lock, it seems to be on 2013 and up...

 

I have a 12 and it locks. The lock is accessible from the cup holder area.

 

My 2012 (with security package) has the lock.

 

My '11 has a lock....

 

I've experienced this issue as well with my 2014. Glad to hear there is a lock, I'll try that! I ended up moving the seat up a little, so my elbow rests just forward of the latch. It took a little to adjust, but now I love the more upright seating position in the Recaros.
