"Belt-Minder"?

Maybe this has been posted before and all but I figured I'd give it a shot.

I'm trying to disable my the Belt-Minder and I've tried about a dozen times with no success. I have a 2013 Roush RS2. I've looked in the Roush Manual(has nothing about it in there) and the '13 GT manual that it came with as well. The '13 GT manual says the following steps:

With manual trans, engage park brake and have gear selector in N, and have both the Driver and passenger front seat belts unbuckled.

1: Turn key to ON position(DO NOT TURN ENGINE ON)

2: Wait for the Safety belt light to turn off(approx 1 minute)

3:Buckle the safety belt then unbuckle three times at a moderate speed ending in the unbuckled position within 30 seconds of the Safety belt light turning off.

4: The Air-bag light will come on for 3 seconds. Then within 7 seconds of the light turning off buckle then unbuckle the safety belt once more.

That should disable the Belt-Minder. But it also says "if your vehicle comes equiped with "MyKey" it cannot be disabled. Anyways yes, I know it's not a 11-14 GT but a buddy with an '06 disabled his. Probably before the time of MyKey. Just curious if anyone has disabled theirs or at least tried? If so, how did you do it(if it worked)?

Thanks
-Ian

I disable mine by always putting my seat belt on.

I think if you get a donor clip from a bone yard and just plug it into the receiver, that should do the trick

Interested to see if this is possible as well for when I use 6-pt harness in the future.

It worked on my '12 by following the owners manual directions.

I followed the instructions in the manual to a T and it did not work. Step 3 of buckling then unbuckling 3 times should make the air bag light come on for 3 seconds, and it won't so I can't complete the disabling process. It's weird

Was it the exact same procedure? The only thing I can think of why it won't work is A: I'm not doing the steps right, or B: I have a "MyKey" system. Who knows?

Well looks like I'm going to have to call my dealer and ask if this car came with MyKey... If not I guess I'll try it again. I must be something wrong if it isn't.

Thanks guys.

MyKey is standard on 13-14 models.

Weird. It said in my owner's manual that "Belt-Minder cannot be disabled on MyKey equipped vehicles".

If your service airbag light won't come on (like me, 12 Premium GT)

I saw after doing the 3 seatbelt clicks the seatbelt light would come on for 3 seconds then immediately go off.

On a hunch I did the 3 clicks, seatbelt light comes on, i immediately buckle and unbuckle and the seatbelt light starts flashling like crazy

I'm betting I just disabled it. Can't go for a drive (son is sleeping) but will report back but I bet this works

I appreciate it. And I hear you. I don't have children but I do have a officer that lives behind me that loves to hassle me for noise ordinance violations

Not trying to be an ****, but I'm just curious. Why do you want the belt reminder to not come on? Wouldn't it be off anyway if you're wearing your seat belt? And if you're not, why wouldn't you be wearing your seat belt?

No worries. My buddy's been harping that since I tried to disable it. Long story short I'm trying to find a different style belt(I've had a shoulder injury on my left side and stock belts hurt on long trips) and I don't know if an aftermarket belt will still trigger the light. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

It does indeed work. Instead of my airbag light coming on for 3 seconds, my seatbelt light came on for 3 seconds.

Here's what happens after you're done.

You start the car, the seatbelt light illumintes for 1 minute as normal (unless you buckle up), then it goes off never to be seen or heard from again.

Must repeat the procedure for the passenger side as well.

Cliffs:

1. Put car in ACC (Auto in P w/ parking break, Manual in N with parking brake)
2. Wait 60 seconds for seatbelt light to go out
3. Buckle it in 3 times within 30 seconds
4. Seatbelt light comes on, you have 7 seconds to buckle and unbuckle 1 last time (4th buckle total)
5. Seatbelt light flashes like crazy (16 times in 4 seconds, fastest I've ever seen)
6. You're done.

Thanks man. I'll have to try that tomorrow to make sure it works. I'm pretty sure I did it a couple of times to be sure but I may have re-enabled it. Anyways thanks for the help.
