I own the alpine spr68 and I like them. I had an Alpine set up in a couple other cars that I've owned and I like the Alpine sound. I plan on getting a set for the rear some day and an amp to drive them. I know they will be a pita to install.

Speakers are very subjective btw. If possible it would be good to find an audio store to audition the ones you're interested in and see what you think. You may not agree with my assessment.

Good luck on your search.

i totally understand what youre saying. what sounds good to your ear might be different to what i hear...and what might be awesome to my ears might be just okay for yours.

so yeah.

ive never had alpines on, though ive heard good.

i have had rockford fosgates, bose, kenwood, jbls (and so far fosgates and jbls have taken the lead -- hands down)

I went on the fosgate website and saw their options....prime, punch and power (in order)

so im looking at the powers right now and found these..

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/t1572

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/t1682

they have both 5x7 and 6x8

will both work? whats the difference? i thought ppl said they're the same?

I believe both will work. On my 6x8s I did get a mounting bracket for them. I cant find the part # or link for it. ok found the link. I purchase them through Tousley Ford. I dont know if they are required, some of the other threads I was reading they were using them with their 6x8's so I purchased. I have the shaker 500 system and the fronts are in this plastic housing that resembles the spacer. If you have the base system you might not need.

Are you planning on using the Metra wiring harness 72-5600? Made wiring easy for me

I love the pioneers but I have heard they don't have much bass below 125hz. Not sure if that matters to you. Personally, I can't tell because I've got the door subs and a trunk sub.

Personally, I don't care for Rockford Fosgate speakers, but that's my opinion. Others may love them. Really depends on your budget and what kind of music you like. I recommend going to several car audio shops and listening to different speakers. You won't get a 100% accurate idea of what they'll sound like in your car, but you'll be able to get close and you'll be able to cull out some bad ones (again, to YOUR ear what you think is bad)...

5x7 and 6x8 refer to size (5" wide x 7" long, 6" wide x 8" long). Basically both sizes will fit in the holes (with adapter plates). If you can, get the larger size. Even better would be 6 1/2" driver and a separate tweeter (for better sound), but again, budget and preference will determine this...

5x7 is the stock size. I just ordered a pair of Infinity Kappa 682.11cf's off of Amazon. I plan on putting them in the front doors and a pair of Infinity Reference 6832cf's in the rear deck.
