Adding the OEM nav
#961
My Mustang GT is almost ready to test the Nav system. I ran into one small issue during reassembly. In the console there is a red spare plug with nothing to plug it into. The other wire in this assembly is for the emergency brake switch. Can anyone identify this plug? Once I get this extra plug identified I can put the console back together and test the navigation system. As far as I can tell, according to the 2013 Mustang Wiring Diagrams manual, this is for an automatic transmission - I have a 6-speed stick. Thanks,
Rick

When removing the console and dash I did not notice that plug not being connected to anything, I should have taken a picture of the console wiring like I did the change out for the wiring harness. I decided to leave it tucked out of the way and not worry about it. We assembled the rest of the dash and turned the power on. When I started the car everything came on and there was the Navigation screen all bright and colorful. It really adds to the good looks of the Mustang dash and it is easier to see at a quick glance. I checked the system information and it displayed my car's VIN Number. Tonight I will be doing the maps update and Sync update. It was a fun project.
Thank you to everyone who invested the time to do the research and layout the process on this forum, as well as answer all the questions and solve the problems that have arisen. Thank you,

Hey Guys,
I'm almost done with the OEM nav install on my 2011 GT/CS. I am working on the OEM amp install and I have a question about the connectors. I have the wiring diagrams to see which wire goes to which pin, but I can't seem to find diagrams of the connectors to see which pin is which. How do I know pin 1 from pin 4, or pin 4 from pin 8 when looking at the connector?

Thanks Siber. I realized that if you look at the connector really closely, it tells you the pin number in the corner. Just have to figure it out from there.

In the Wiring Diagrams it actually tells you the Pin number and on which plug also.

Help and opinion
Good day everyone. I’m looking for some advice and opinions.
I have always wanted a mustang convertible and my 8 year old daughter keeps saying for the last two summers we need to get one. So I just bought a 2010 V6. It’s a base model and is in mint condition. My daughter and I are so excited to have it.
so in saying that I believe in safety and I’m going to add the roll bar/light bar. This adds the extra brake light which to be honest I like a lot as my daughter will sit in the back seat and this will hopefully keep us a little more safe. I have watched a video on how to install this and I have to take out the back seats and side panels. So I thought if I have to do all that why not upgrade the radio to navigation because from me reading this forum that you all have wrote the amplifier needs to be installed in the trunk which means I have to take out the back seats.
so here is my questions for all of you.
I would like to put navigation, light bar/roll bar and if I’m taking off the dash also add puddle lights to the mirrors. Is this an extremely hard project to take on. I’m not a mechanic but I’m able to fumble my way through things. Also I would be replacing the harness with oem factory harness and by doing so does this make it more a plug and play type thing with no rewiring and adding connectors.
I know I’m asking a lot but any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
thank you everyone.

I have a couple of extra parts from doing the swap in my car if anyone needs them. Wiring harness and amp out of a 2014. Links are below.

Acm question
Im helping a friend out and have seen this referenced but couldnt find the solution. My buddy has done the swap on a 2010 car everything is working minus sound which is only coming out of one speaker. Is there a difference in acm units from the 13/14 cars and the early 10-12 cars that could cause sound to not work correctly?.
The dash harness was replaced and is a new part. The amps are original from the car and had worked previously, unsure if its something like a bad connection or with the speaker pin out of the acm changing on the later cars.
Any insight are appreciated.
Thanks

Darb,
You have to add the amp in the trunk from the donor car. If you have a 13-14 model, I have the amp for sale. The amp is different for the 11-12 and I had bought all of the parts out of a 14, so I had to buy the correct amp for my car.

the original amps are being used its a 2010 car with a 2010 dash harness the only thing not 2010 is the ACM unit and the screen (from a 2013)but everything else is working as it should, just the sound is messed up. Unsure if the speaker outputs on the nav unit ACM were changed thru the years or if it is a bad connection or a goofed stock amp.

I have a question if anyone can answer this, please. I have a 2010 4.0L V6 mustang convertible automatic, and I'm about to do the swap into Nav. I got all my parts from a 2010 5.0L V8 GT mustang coupe Standard. Will the dash harness from the donor car work in my car even though I have an automatic and it came out of a standard? My understanding is the dash harness connects into the center console. All opinions are welcomed as I don't want to start this and find out, in the end, I have the wrong part and it won't work..
