Now for the steering wheel side. Coil the ribbon up with the old one, and leave a little bit extra. Drill your holes and sand off the plastic sheath like before. Then solder them. Fold the ribbon to follow the old one. For the steering wheel exit, I had my wires follow the path of the airbag wires, so no extra hole here.
For a faster response from jim010... I would suggest contacting him via private message in regard to your question, as the last activity from jim 010 on this thread was nearly 4 years ago...

After 2.5 years of installing the 2013 cluster on my 2012. Had every function minus Criuse Control,SYNC control; audio control works;Track Apps and Digital Gauges. When I installed the cluster, rewired the cruise control, Messge center buttons, and Audio buttons to match 2013. Able to scroll option on cluster. The only hesitation was updating PCM from 2012 to 2013, worried of bricking the PCM and unable to find the 2013 stock firmware file. During the 2.5 years, dealt with tuning my 2012. Purchaed HP Tuner and used Forscan, during this time came comfortable with configuring and upading any module.
In 2025, decided to continue with this project. Long story short was able to locate the calibration file and used Forscan with license to update PCM to 2013. Have Cruise Control and Digital Gauges. No Track Apps, no 2013 ABS module, yet. Purchaed paddle shifters from 2015 from eBay, came with wiring harness. Posted here since I will be following Jim010 lead with adding ribbon cable to the clockspring.
I was looking at the 2014 wire diagram and realized, since I do not use the SYNC Phone buttons, use those pins to connect the paddle shifters to the clockspring. The pins should fit because I was able to remove the wire and pins from the connectors that came with the paddle shifters.
Will check is on Saturday!
Keep y'all posted!
Able to add three wire ribbon to the donor clock spring. Originally had 8 wire ribbon, seem like the rotation of the clock spring is tight, removed the remaining wires. Drilled three holes to run the ends of the ribbon for steering wheel and column side connectors. have not installed as of yet, because still deciding how to install 2015 Mustang paddle shifters. The shifters came with wire harness and was able to remove the pins and isolate the paddle shifters wires. The paddle shifters has lighted "+" and "-" on each and able to test that they do light up. Will connect to clock spring side for power.
Functionality working:
PCM updated to 2013, had to purchase additional credits for HP tuner, for Boss 302 manifold and JLT 2.0 CAI
Connected pins to slot 23, 24, and 56
Have digital gauges
Connected three way manual switch to use Sport Shift. WOW!!!!
Cruise Control, had to re-pin to match 2013-2014
Radio Volume and Media buttons work.
Ok and Directional buttons work, rewire from IPC to column connector and installed 2013 light switch panel, removes the three button from 2012.
It will be awhile before I will work on the paddles. Happy with the progress so far!!
Been a long while since I was on here. Sorry I have not been around to answer questions. But happy to see you guys have it figured out. I still have my Mustang, but have been working on a different car over the last few years.
Yea, this model clockspring is already very tight due to the thickness of the stock clockspring ribbon cable. Couple that with needing a clockspring that is thin and needs to be longer than the existing one and it turns into a very very annoying project. I finally did it with a 12 pin ribbon cable that was 2m long and I just barely get 2 rotations in each direction.

Did you resolder the 8 original pins when you upgraded to the 12 pin ribbon? I am slighlty scared of messing up here, since there are airbag wires going through there, so the risk is quite great.
I tried a ribbon cable that is not specific to a clockspring but it was too thick. Considering buying another donor mustang clock spring just for the cable inside of it and then try to put them both in there but I am afraid that is still going to be too tight.
Did anyone have luck with adding the pins following the OP's instructions?
Sooo.... I'm going to see if I can dig up a video. I did NOT actually touch the original wire. The original wire is thick as all hell. I ordered a spare 2013 clockspring, and frankly, I could not fit both inside, they are simply too thick together. But, what I DID have on hand is a spare 2015 clockspring. It was an aftermarket Chinese one since I was going to tear it apart. If you buy an aftermarket heated enabled clockspring, you will be able to salvage 3 very thin clockspring ribbon cables from it. One will be thin enough to be slipped along side the original without ever actually taking the original one out.
