Added 2nd Trunk Light ...

I've got a cargo net strung accross the back of my trunk and typically just load stuff beteen the net & back of truck which blocks the trunk light from illuminating anything.

So I bought a 7" long 12 led light tube from superbrightleds.com (# LT-W12SMD) and mounted it to the underside of the package tray via. 2) 1/6" dia holes which worked perfectly with their supplied screws. Spliced into the existing trunk light wires at the back of the trunk (put a plug there) and made a simple wiring harness around the passenger side and up to the new light.

Also replaced the existing trunk light bulb with their 4410-NW9 as the factory incandecent bulb gets pretty hot and figured that bezel could eventually get brittle due to heat.

That was a good idea Doug. I wouldn't mind doing something like this under the hood as well.

YES, I spliced into the OE trunk light harness (as explained in my post).

Take a pic looking up at your light installation so we can see what you used and how you mounted it !!

I did something similar to this with an LED "rope" light from Umnitza...

Its absolutely necessary... I dont know what genius at ford decided it made sense to put the light at the back of the trunk so that anything in the trunk blocks the light, vs at the top.

Pics dont do it justice... thing could literally blind you at night lol... $30 bucks shipped and install took 5 minutes comes with pre existing sticky tape. water proof too.. (not that thats needed)

Pics show the custom box I had made for the 12" sub that I've got... haven't had a chance to finish the install yet though.

This is one way to power an LED strip without tapping into any wires. Sorry for bumping an old thread

The adapter simply transforms a festoon socket into +/- outputs for 12V use. It plugs into the trunk light socket then you connect the leads to your LED bar. I would cut off the plastic connector and then use butt connectors or solder to attach the two wires. When mine finally arrives I'll try to document the install with some photos.

I just replaced the truck light with a LED 4410-NW9. So far I like the brightness and the light is NOT so hot. Also replaced the License plate lights & the inside dome lights. Good light from all.
