2012 base steering wheel to Premium steering wheel

Hello, just bought a 2012 base v6 mustang and I wanted to upgrad the steering wheel to the leather one with the audio controls. My question is will it be a plug and play or will I need new wiring?

Won't work even with new wiring. Search the threads here. The wheel works according to your as built data. Cruise control will work though as all cars come standard with CC.

@awoychosky123

What year and did it require any harness mods? Base model base stereo or shaker?

There's a coyote shop not too far away thst has the Ford diag tools that said they'd give it a shot. Just need to know what I'm getting into as far as wiring goes.

The year is in his signature... Hope you also noticed the last thread submission posted was from nine years ago!

Yes Kevin, the poster was indeed active on June 23rd, but I was strictly referring to the last thread activity that was posted... Hopefully, awoychosky123 will log on, take notice and submit a reply to boosted12coyote?

Yep, You Reminded me That Not Everybody is Set to get Notified Automatically as Well When a Post is Done. I Have to Go into his Profile For That Info MOD ONLY ACCESS. {I'm Still Learning all the Tricks as Well!} It Looks Like the Only way He is Going to Know he has a Question is For Poster To Send Him a PM or Use a {Social Profile}. I Don't Know if a Mention Will Work Either But I'm Gonna Throw One in For Poster on Post 6.

Heh really stretching my memory now, as I have gone from a base radio to a shaker radio to a factory nav radio. But year should not matter as long as it’s a 10-14. If I am remembering the as-built codes need to be flashed to a premium/shaker radio if it’s a base radio. If you swap radio heads you should be able to do it without programming. Time flies.

There are wiring changes but they mostly pertain to subwoofer wires, the sync system, and compass. The car should have wires going from the clock spring to the radio for the audio controls regardless of MY. The programming is just turned off in the base models.

Anytime! This place is a wealth of knowledge and I will continue to help where I can. I just need a reminder now and again.

Hey there Alex, thanks for responding to Kevin's notification on your profile and also for responding to boosted12coyote's question on the thread... I know it's been quite a while since there was last any thread activity going on lol.
