2011 cloth to leater conversion...

Has anyone swapped out the stock cloth seat covers and installed leather? If so where did you find the leather covers and how much??? Also swapping the stock plastic "playschool" steering wheel for one found in the premium models?
Also on fleet/rental mustangs that seem to have the upgraded steering wheel anyone know the cost and part number for this??

thanks

I have seen the leather kits on E-bay for about $329 to $390. It's a good bit of work to install by yourself. The extra set of hands help. I helped a buddy do his

Check out our #10 SilverHorse Racing car "Twisted Six"- it started life as a base V6 with cloth interior, the less-than-ideal steering wheel, and a host of other stock items...

So yes, it can be done. Plan on about 6-800.00 + install to do it, maybe more if you're crazy like us and need the interior color to accent the exterior trim color...

Ebay is good depending on who's got them up there, there's also NewTakeOff (who we work with and can get you product from) and there's also Mustang Parts Salvage (MPS) in Georgia. We don't work directly with them, but have used them for years with excellent results.

Mustang Parts salvage has been supplying us with products since back when SilverHorse Racing was "just" a race team - so they happened to come across this interior on a car that was being converted to a race car, and we were able to snag it. To be honest, I don't even see it listed on the "build your car" section of the Ford site anymore so I don't know if it is still available even as an option. But if you go this route, you'd need to swap front and rear seats as the backs have the fold down headrest - a requirement for 2011 that the 2010 didn't have. It's a bolt-in, so no big deal, just need to be aware of it.

Also, if you're swapping seats as an assembly, be aware that you will get an airbag code that the dealer will need to reset - it is due to the airbags reporting back the "incorrect" serial number for side bags, other than what was originally programmed as the car was built. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of.

I have been thinking about doing this, but I would have to add seat heaters too. I've seen the ebay cover auction for $329 and that is cheap. I changed the seat covers on my Corvette a few years ago and it took about 3 hours a seat. Had to use hog rings and tie wraps to secure. Is the Mustang seat different?

Mustang seat covers are a lot quicker to change. They do use hog rings in certain places to attach the seat covers to the wire in the foam but you can replace them with zip ties to make the installation much easier.

I bought my leather seats from eBay for $299 and by far was the best investment for my car. From stone cloth to charcoal leather for that price was unbeatable. They were brand new no issues and I replaced hog rings with zip ties as wheel

Very nice!

Just put a set over your Chrome Doors handles in the base model 6'er the 'other-half' is driving. Did you do the steering wheel swap too? Do the all controls work?
