I've read several posts about this now and am curious where you all are sending them and the results. Are you widening front wheels as well to maintain the geometry? Feel free to add anything useful

 

A friend of mine had his cobra wheels done, 10.5 rears and 4" fronts...very slick. I'll have to ask who did his, I know it cost a pretty penny....but the welds looked almost like a machine...

 

Check out weldcraft. I've heard great things about them. Not cheap at all though.

 

Yeah it's expensive. About 200 per wheel if I remember correctly. Plus shipping

 

funny this thread was brought up i was thinking about send a set of brembos wheels to have widen to 11"

200 a wheel isnt bad at all as long as it balances true

 

The place I'm going to use is $250 a wheel plus shipping, nit bad at all if you like your current wheels. That cost covers up to 3" wider. Going to have 10.5/315 in rear and leave the front at 9.5 but move from a 265 to a 275. That's for the 13 Shelby.

Got 9.5/275 on all four of the 11 Roush but plan to go 10.5/275 on the rear of it as well.

Nitto NT05Rs will be on the rear.

Well worth the price since I've got the PP wheels on the Shelby and chrome Roush wheels on the Roush.

Would love to know how much they'd charge to widen the OEM Brembo rear rims to 10"-10.5 so I could safely do 305's back there

I know somebody who went through them, and will be going through them as well. Was $250 a wheel and shipping, so $600 to get the rear done up to 3".

 

At that much just so I could go 10-20mm wider wouldn't make sense.

I could stay with 285/35R19's on the stock 9" width and while not ideal, it would come very close to the look I'm after, for much less $$$

 

I imagine its not worth it for most people. For me it is well worth it, especially on the Shelby. I never looked into it myself until recently.

 

For most it probably isn't worth the money. But if you are trying to get a custom set of quality staggered wide wheels you can pay some pretty high prices. By doing this you can keep the stock Ford look and still get some wide tires out back. As much money as we dump into these cars $600 is a drop in the bucket these days.

 

It's worth it if you have a special set of wheels that aren't cheaply replaced. I was planning on doing this to my cobras but instead I decided to buy a set of 10.5 replicas for 600. Including 315 tires. But I'm guessing on these new cars that option probably isnt available for cheap.

Gabe - how much room is there to widen the rim on the inside? I see Weldcraft said they can go up to 3"...but how much room do you actually have under there?

 

Depends on a number of factors which include size o the wheel to begin with and current offset.

I know of a guy that has a 11.75 inch wheel on the rear with no other modifications.

Granted his offset was very aggressive to begin with (+37 on a 10 inch wheel).

 

If you're going to widen go with 11" for 315mm tire. You'll get better performance from an 11" than a 10.5" and they fit. You will most likely have to have spacers made to get the offset correct and longer wheel studs. Kind of adds up.

 

Forgot about this thread, don't post here much anymore. I had my wheels widened to 11" by Weldcraft, and I'm running Nitto NT05R 315/35/20s. The wheels turned out great and balanced out as easily as stock. Ended up using a 5/16th" wheel spacer to keep it off the bracket for the bump jouncers, and trimmed up some fenderwell cover.

Problem areas you may run into. Circle is the bracket that wheel will hit when suspension has no load. Dotted line can be trimmed and nobody will ever notice it is gone.

 

I'm thinking of widening my stock rear brembo wheels to 10 inches. I am not very knowledgable about how this works. Would I need spacers? Is there any place in Southern California that does this type of work?

 

Eric Vaughn widens wheels in Monrovia, CA. Can google his website. I've seen his work and it looks really good. I really doubt you would need to do any modifications with a 10" wheel.
