I love the idea of no badges. I debadged Muskrat, and I'd debadge Awesome in a heartbeat if she didn't have holes under the badges.

But she has the holes. Only a 2005-6 V6 fender on each side, or metal work, will fix it now.

Meh. Seems stupid, and more costly, to me to make two different fenders specifically to hang a GT badge or not those years.

And yes, *I* would have done it to an '84 5.0 LX, without question.

I guess I'm just a fanatic about the "as delivered" look - especially as a vehicle gets older. Unless, of course, its so far gone that Pro Street is necessary.

Maybe I should mention the aforementioned 'Muskrat' was a 1966 I6 Coupe. No badges, no 'tow strap' bars under the bumpers. Clean, she was. Pretty.

And I had to fill every dang hole for those letters and badges myself. Fun.

/probably need to edit the sig for that...
//Used to have a website with the magazine ad, so it was just click the link back then. Meh.

I've read an article (too long ago to remember where) that said many Europeans remove badging from their cars, when the badges indicate that it's a more expensive model or has an optional engine. According to the article, a number of wealthy Europeans are ashamed about having a lot of money. They still want to drive the more expensive cars, but want to leave the impression they are driving base models.

Now, thats different. Hahah. Not surprising though, especially after working with dudes from all over Europe...

I love the look of a clean, DE-badged car and completely understand the desire to to this. but taking the 5.0 emblems off and then trying to find other emblems to put on to cover up the holes? it just dont make sense to me. if you take em off and then put something else in its place how is that cleaning up the look of the fender. take em off and paint them to match your car so they dont stand out as much and then put them back on
other Mustang type emblems are cool too, like the pony pkg tribar/horse or powered by ford ones or even the aftermarket 302 style all are good choices. however I dont see the humor in the ecoboost emblem or the hybrid emblems.

Well, anyway, Yeah, that's why the GT badges are still there on mine, anyway... if I can't get rid of them totally, and no holes, I just don't see the point, unless something cool were to take their place.

I just... *really*... can't stand the GT design on the S197s. The Powered by Ford emblem isn't bad, but it's just not what I want. Nothing else, except maybe the old school GTA emblems from '67, fit the bill. And even then...

So, the GT badges stay. Ugh.

/When I get the hood redone, the washers are gonna be moved to the wipers. I'll just also do the badges then, and swap out the faux cap to the pony one too.

How about turn signal repeaters? Of course that might mean making more/bigger holes.

I know mine's the prior body style, but I debadged the GT fender emblems and went w/ the Pony Package emblems. I really like the look. The Pony Package emblems are larger than your standard traditional pony emblems, and they fit the alignment holes.

I don't have a picture, but I bought new GT badges and had them painted black. Then replaced the chrome originals. Looks a lot better, to me anyway.

I have been around other forums for YEARS now and yet I still made a typical NEWB mistake.

it looks like I have gave the thread a nice into re-activity though, lol.
ohh and my 07 has the stock GT badges still on it as well, but they are painted black. I too am considering PONY pkg emblems because I am not a fan of the Factory "GT" but being black does make them a tad less annoying, almost tolerable.

Out of curiosity do the pins/holes line up between the two badges?

No they don't line up, but the badge is sufficiently large to cover the old holes.
