Dang that's messed up for that state. Thought it was in every state that the back windows could be as dark as you wanted, with a certain percent for the front windows.

I'm sorry to hear you have to go with 50%.... For me 35% is like transparent... I can't imagine what 50% looks like.

Bought my car with dark tint already installed( looks atleast 20% if not darker)

Either way, I always try to get the darkest possible, I cruise with my windows down.

Even if its freezing out and I see a cop, depending where he is, I quickly roll my windows all the way down

Do post up pictures of it!

I would highly recommend that you get a eyebrow tint (goes across the windshield, to block sun glare) most states only allow 4 inches down I think? I went with a max of 6 inches.

Pictures of the tint. The sun is reflecting off the back, so it looks lighter than it is. Tinting in VA.-image-315581999.jpg Tinting in VA.-image-2168681004.jpg Tinting in VA.-image-665917694.jpg

In Tennessee that is only on Utility vehicles, Station Wagons, vans etc, and then only if you have 2 side mirrors. Cars are legal with 35%, even on the back windows.
RC, Tint looks good.

Thanks guys... Kinda disappointed that I probably can't drive it tomorrow, suppose to rain all day, and I'm going to a baseball game if it doesn't get cancelled. I have to wait 2-5 days for the tint to dry...

You can drive your car. Just don't roll down the windows!! Try and park in a sunny area while the tint is curing. Looks good.

I was just worried about the rain getting on to the tint while I open and close the door, but the games got cancelled, so I don't need to worry right now.

Michigan can only have a 4" strip from the top of the window down on the front windows. You can still get them done but if you get pulled over you have to take the tint off. I hate window tint laws.

So if there is any sort of window tint law in your state, they will eventually get ya.

I don't have to worry, I got darkest legal. It looks extremely dark in the shade, even with 50% front windows, in the sun though, I barely notice it was tinted the 35% in the rear windows and rear windshield looks good even in the sun.

I lived in VA for about four years and that state is the worst about ANY tinting, non-factory fog lights, and a ton more state mandated laws...most of which are totally ****. I now live in FL, and have had the darkest legal tint on all windows and I have no problems at night...and they look fantastic. But to be safe, I carry a copy of the state laws concerning tinting, and my receipt from my installer. The FL State Patrol stopped me once, but when I presented the paperwork they simply shrugged and told me to leave.

I have 50/35 like OP and live in va beach, went legal because I got pulled on 295 by richmond because I had 35 all around on my last car. Hate this state with the laws they have.

I have 16% on my car. Pulled over 1 time but talked my out of a ticket. I've had it on my car since I bought it in 2012. And legal is 35% in Kansas. I have no problem seeing out at night.

I recommend 20%. If you are worried about legality, visit your local optometrist and have them write you a "prescription" for window tint. I have 10% all around and I've never had in issue in KS or MO

VA is one of the most strict enforcers of lighting and tint laws, so keep that in mind if you go dark

Va actually made it a felony if stopped three times for window tint violation. No less than 50%.

So can I tint my fog lights there? I don't see why it would be an issue. Also the raxiom smoked halo head lights? Those are dot approved, so would they be acceptable there?

Little FYI I found out from a Leo friend. If your tint is legal in your state and illegal per va standards, va state police can still ticket you.

Yep they have dedicated Troopers just for this very thing. You take a chance in that state with any modifications. $100 per infraction plus fees.
