Spoiler delete anyone?
Spoiler delete anyone?
How many of you are choosing the spoiler delete when you're ordering the car? I've not seen too many with that option, at least from the pictures. Just seems like a subtle change that makes it more unique.
I too will be ordering spoiler delete. I did that on my 06 GT to help give it the classic look of the 1987-1993 lx 5.0's . Everytime somebody made a comment on my car they said they always liked the clean look without the spoiler.
I think to some it may look weird because everybody is used to seeing the stock spoiler.
Cool fact- the spoiler delete/clean look really started here in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.
In the 80's, Landau Ford of Winnipeg (we have the Canada's largest muscle car cruise night on Sunday's) approached Ford Canada and ordered a tonne of Stripper LX 5.0's to keep the weight and price down. This started a trend and made the stripper LX's with spoiler delete popular across North America. I remember reading an article about this in a Mustang magazine about 10 years ago.

I'm pretty certain it's designed for aesthetics rather than functionality. It may provide some increased downforce at some speed, but if I'm right, it's not really engineered for it.
Very few spoilers out there are actually designed to provide a functional benefit. Those used in professional racing, a few aftermarket versions, and some of the spoilers on very high-end performance cars.
On a side note, just yesterday I saw a whale tail on an Accord. It was incredibly ridiculous. I can't even fathom why anyone would put such a monstrosity on a car. And on a Honda Accord no less. Same thing with a 5+ inch exhaust tip. Seen one of those recently too, on a single exhaust economy box. Completely absurd.

I have gone back and forth as to whether I would get the spoiler delete or backup cam. On one hand, I like the way the backup cam spoiler looks best out of all the options (standard, GT500, GT/CS, Roush) and being a M/T noob, I like that the backup can popping up on the EP screen would for sure tell me I'm in Reverse and not 1st! Haha
, at least for the first few times until I got used to it. But then I do like the spoiler delete look too, and I could get an aftermarket backup cam that I could integrate into the factory screen very easily, so it's not a big deal to me. I just hate that with the spoiler delete, the Nav antenna is so much more obvious. I would get a Glass Roof car though, so I think I would get spoiler delete, add on my own backup cam later, then move the navi antenna up to the bar in between the Glass Roof and rear windshield, and finally have the radio antenna and trunk antenna filled. It would be one smooth ride!
