Side Mirror Question...

Side Mirror Question...

I have a strange question...
I live in Japan and Ford Japan makes several modifications to 2010+ Mustangs to make them pass Japanese car inspection.

One that I find annoying is the side mirrors. They have to fold in Japan, but the ones they put on aren't very nice and make a lot of wind noise. I was thinking about getting some OEM mirrors from Tasca or maybe even a dealer, but I have a question...

Are the mirrors weather stripped or sealed / glued in any way?
Is it just the 3 bolts?

If they aren't glued down I might actually go ahead and get OEM ones and just swap when it's inspection time... Heck! I might even wait if the "Pony Projector" mirrors would be compatable! That would be cool...

Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated!

No glue on any I have dealt with. Just unbolt and unplug the wiring. Might look at Agent 47 mirrors too.

Folding mirrors on a Mustang....how about a picture???

Lots of European cars have folding mirrors. Good for parking on narrow streets and deters eggheads for smashing it.

I think those look better than the US ones.

I put the APR carbon fiber mirrors on but I like rice. (that's a joke I don't actually eat rice but I do like carbon fiber)

You think so?
I guess they aren't that bad...
They sure are noisy at speed though. I imagine that the US ones are much more quiet. Are my assumptions way off?

Honestly I can't remember my stock ones being noisy or not. I know the APR ones are quiet. I had a Porsche and it had the loudest mirrors it was actually near impossible to drive with window down. The air flowing between the mirror and the A pillar just roared. You could reach your hand out between the mirror and A pillar and the noise would drop to near nothing. Amazing how they over looked that.

I just checked out APR and Agent 47 mirrors. They look pretty nice, but both were designed for 2005-2009 Mustangs? I think the bolts are in slightly different locations, right?

stock side mirrors haven't disturbed me ever, so I'd say they're quiet

Thanks everybody!
Now I just need to decide to wait or not for Pony projector side mirrors or not. Do you guys think they will require additional wiring or will they just be plug and play?

I am going to say that since there has never been anything installed in the mirror before that was activated by unlocking the doors then it is not going to be plug and play. Additional wiring mods will certainly be necessary.

Yeah... Probably.
I figure we could test the wires to see if any go live when the doors are unlocked. I also noticed that the new mirrors are heated. I'm not even sure if the old ones are, are they?
If memory serves me right, there are a lot of wires in the mirror harness.
Is there a wring guide online somewhere?

If the 2013 mirrors require new wires, I might just get some 2011 OEM mirrors soon.
The caps usually come unpainted though... Black GTs have glossy caps, right?
Anybody selling mirrors out there?
