RTRs vs. SVE Drift Wheels

Whats you guys' opinions on these 2 wheels? I was just looking into the RTRs and noticed the Drifts are almost exactly the same. How is SVE's quality/rep? Seems they both are 28lbs but RTRs have an offset of 33mm and the SVEs have a 35mm. Not sure about the offsets and stuff and which is better or worse...Huge price difference. Opinions???

I'm wanting to buy the drifts also. According to LMR, they make the drifts in house. They are brand new, so I'm not sure you are going to get an answer yet on the drifts. The matte black on the drifts looks gooooooood.

I too want these in matte black! I have no idea about thus 'offset' stuff, so I'll be following this post. I will have these rims!! I am wanting these just because they look awesome, didn't think of this technical stuff. Thanks!

The SVE's are real new while the RTR's have been out a few months so it might be hard getting feedback on the SVE'S. As for comparison, yes they look similar, but the shape of the spokes are slightly different. The SVE's are more rounded while RTR's are squared. See photos. If you've going with silver then the RTR's have a better finish, almost like a hypersilver. They look awesome in the sunlight! However, I've not seen an sve up close. If price is your concern, then sve is the way to go. For offset, I'm not sure about the difference between the two. Some people say RTR's have the wrong offset, but I think they look outstanding and always get compliments. These are just my opinions and I'm kinda partial to the silver ones. As for the charcoal one's, I know there's other members on here that will probably comment on those.

I would think that they added the 2mm of offset to bring the wheels in a tad. Some state the RTR's stick out too much, so this could be smart if they did this.

One of the only things that I don't like is the extra step inside each spoke. I would imagine that they had to manufacture like this in order to be different enough not to be in conflict with RTR.

I think the RTRs offset is too small 40mm would be better for a wheel that wide. If the price is the same the SVE look more expensive like the billet machined wheels. But from what I have seen the TSW Nurburgring wheels with the forged rims are lighter and have better offset with roughly the same look and were selling for less money that's hard to beat in my book.

That would make sense. Anything wider than a 275 or 285 out back might rub on lowered suspension. I have 1.25 drop out back and that's just perfect, I might go a tad bigger on the rears next time just to fill it in more.

In general I'm talking about SVEs rep and quality, anyone know? Who makes them, or are they they're own company?

I just ordered 2 of the SVE Drift wheels last night and they are out of stock, it says they should ship on 10/8.

I can post pics when they come in and my thoughts on the wheels. I will be able to order two more probably before the first two even ship, but buying 4 nice 19" tires may take me some time lol.

So far I am thinking Nitto INVOs, anybody go any opinions on what tires to run?

From what I have read, SVE is a line of wheels owned by Latemodel Restoration... I think.

Im very curious about this and to see how they look and the quality as im sure a lot of guys are. Im gonna keep a close eye on this post. Hopefully some results in the next 3 weeks. Even tho they are cheaper, it would suck to buy a low quality wheel with a poor finish. Hopefully thats not the case.

Exactly, even though I may not have tires right away I can comment on the finish and quality.

I told you who makes them in the second post. LMR (Late Model Restoration). LMR makes these wheels............

I can tell you my car is loooow. I have the rtr's with 275s in the rear. They are not even close to hitting or rubbing on anything. The offset I believe is perfect as well. All the people I hear say they stick out too far don't own them. They sit flush with the wells and in my opinion look great.

Are they just a regular cast wheel? If so I would pass..one good pothole and you would be done. I would go with a TSW Nurburgring vs. an RTR. They come in a more correct offset than the RTRs.

Any more info on the SVE wheels? Such as low pressure casting or gravity casting, what is the weight, etc.

I posted the weights and offsets above. 28lbs, same as the RTRs.

The SVE wheels have been around for quite a while now in the form of the 10th anniversary Cobra repro wheels.

SVE wheels is a Late Model Resto brand made in China.

Since the SVE offset is shorter, can you get away with a 305 on them in the rear? Just curious because I'd like 2 of them for drag radials and I know that size will stick out on my rtr's and probably look silly.

9.5" is not enough wheel for a 305..you need a 10.5" at a minimum with 11" being optimum. The widest tire you should go with for a 9.5" wheel is a 285/35/19 for the Mustang.

However, if you run a Nitto NT05R in a 18" size the minimum width is a 9.5", this tire runs a little narrow and has a softer sidewall for dragracing. A Nitto Invo is 12.36" wide in a 305.30.19 size while the NT-1R is right at 12".
