Roof Scratch Options?

Hello Mustang Source, new member here!

Anyways, last night, I picked up a 2014 Ingot Silver GT. As beautiful as she is, she came with 2 sets of small but nasty scratches on the roof that we are still trying to figure out how to handle.

So, Solutions.
Repaint
Vinyl Wrap
Plasti-Dip

Repainting is definitely the thing to fix the issue. However, I'm a huge fan of the two tone look of the glass roof options are available against the silver. So, with that in mind, I was thinking maybe wrapping/dipping the roof a gloss, matte, or CF finish. So, price wise and perception, what do you think would be/look best? Thanks all!

It was used, 9k miles. Probably should have included that.

I like vinyl wrap idea, but I would do it only after getting the real issue fixed.

You can get pre-cut black roof vinyl from AM for a little over $100 IIRC. (I've had one sitting my garage for like 3 months because I keep changing my mind about applying it.) Definitely cheaper than most vinyl shops, easier to apply than dip and probably better looking. Might be a way to go until you want to cough up the paint dollars.

I agree with the others and get the paint fixed and just have it painted black, of course if funds allow…thats always the hang up lol.

You may not be a stripe guy... But would vinyl stripes cover the scratches?... Just a thought...

That idea hit me. I mean the paint does sound nice to get it all fixed and I'll see what I can do, price willing. So, Stripe wise, color thoughts with ingot silver? I like the black roof from the glass models as said before, but yeah there's too many options! lol anything can look good

I found a few videos on Youtube about how to fix some pretty nasty scratches without repainting (and without some miracle product - just a lot of elbow grease).

There was this retired Vietnam vet (Martin Wright) who did paint restoration for years and posted quite a few videos showing some of his techniques. Martin has since passed on, but he left behind quite a few really good videos that I've found helpful.

Here's one of him removing some scratches by hand (no buffer needed). Would this sort of thing help?

I got my from the decal shoppe. Pretty easy install if you have a heat gun. Does take some time though. Did over a weekend last winter.

Removing Deep Scratches By Hand (we now use Xpert Polishes) - YouTube
First time I've ever seen him, that was inspirational and awesome.
