removing dealer stickers

Anyone have a good solution to this? I want to get the dealer emblem off of the trunk of my new V6 as it just looks horrible. A nice and sexy black back end surrounded by the sterling grey paint, with this out of place silver slab stuck right of center.

On my last car i was able to remove it with goo gone and dental floss, but it left behind a blemish that i could never get buffed out. So i want to know if anyone here has any tricks to use for this? Thanks.

Try heating it with a hair dryer and see if it will peel off first, if not use the floss while its hot, then use alcohol or WD-40 to take the rest of the glue off, I never have trusted goo gone, goof off, etc. on paint.

There are products at the auto parts store specifically for removing adhesives. Goo Gone will work too - not sure why Rather B. Blown doesn't trust that product. Works great.

There's a mild goo gone that's out now. Comes in a plastic pump bottle and is made from oranges. Works great for this. Wal mart has it.

I had it mixed up with the original Goof-Off, thought it was the same type thing. I ruined a headlight with that **** one time. It just destroyed the plastic.

WD40 or that 90% isopropyl alcohol has worked better than anything for me to get adhesives off.

The aerosol freeze spray works great to have label / decal adhesive stop, permitting easy removal.

Mineral spirits on a rag should take care of it. Just make sure you wipe it up good after.

About an hour and a half later, after all the paperwork was done, after the sales guy puts the paper plate on it, he drives it around, and there, on the trunklid is a shiny dealership chrome nameplate. I walked outside and informed the sales person the deal was off.

He drove the car back to the prep station and had the folks remove it.

Like all of you, I don't wish to have this junk on my car. Unless they want to write me a check each month for advertising for them. Even then, the amount would have to be significant.

WD-40!!! It works wonders. Just make sure you wipe all of it off after you're done.

Goof-Off works just fine and hasn't damaged any paint that I've used it on.

I've contemplated for so long about removing my pin stripes...However, I can actually see the cut line where they were trimmed with a blade

Yes that is the only thing keeping me from removing the stripes. At least the were consistent ...there's a cut line for every single stripe break.

Here is the badge, I got it off with the WD-40, worked like a charm. Thanks guys. I do have the dealer license plate holders, but i can live with those until i find ones that i want. Unfortuately by the time i got this off the sun had set so i till take a new pic tomorrow. no residue or imprint left. it looks the way it should now.

Thanks again!

And Wow, Patrick, how long did it take to notice that on the stripes? I would complain to the dealer and see if they are willing to do anything. it may be late to do that now, but at least make it known how bad they screwed up. I picked my dealer specificaly because of the work ethic of the employees and its long standing good reputation.

I had some buddys back in high school who worked at a dealer, so i knew not to go to that one for any kind of quality work. They could clean a car nicer than a car wash, but that was it.
