Painted headlight uprights/grill separator

I have a 2012 GT on order in Kona Blue, my question is, has anybody painted the uprights (surround) between headlight, and the grill, body color. Can you buy the surround already painted?
Thanks,
Michael

I painted mine but not the body color. I have seen it though. The bodyshop will just sand it down, use an adhesion promoter and then paint and clear. I painted mine with some body trim paint. Its flat black. But eventually I think i want to paint mine Kona as well. When I get my hood ill probably have the surround painted at the same time. Here is the latest picture of mine.

I have seen a lot of 2010+ Mustangs with it painted. Looks like a real silly budget thing for Ford to leave them black. Maybe they thought it looked like a Camaro leaving it black. The talk is they got it right for 2013 putting the upper part of the GT500 and painting the extension body color.

My car is painted.

The GT/CS Grille Surround is painted, but it comes in black when you get it from Ford and the GT grille with the driving lights will not fit in it.

IMO only the darker colors make it work such as black grey and maybe kona. That sterling grey looks great with it. Anymore pics of the front?

My V6 came with the surround area painted.

But when I went to a Roush front fascia, I felt that leaving it black (unpainted) would make the front end look longer and more muscular!

You were wrong. The v6 looks better except for the mustang corral thingy.

I think it looks cool either way. I think ford wanted the whole grille section to be blacked out since this is a traditional "high performance" look....but they opted to paint it for the Boss...so who knows?

Interesting how it makes these cars look more '05-'09 ish.
