My 2012 SGM MCA is almost 3 years old. It's driven about 7 mos / yr with 19k mi now. In Wisconsin, so the sun is not too hot. Thinking about removing the MCA stripes on the sides - they are on all fenders and doors. Cars been waxed 4x, with no swirls visible.

Have you removed your stripes long after the car was new? Could you see where the stripe was after cleaning/polishing? If so, we're you able to fix it? Did you have light or dark colored paint? Thanks for any help.

affects different colors and conditions differently. I know red is the worst with color fade.

If you park your car in the garage regularly, you should be ok. even if there is some color variance, it will go away after some exposure to the sun. wouldn't worry about it.

Ghosting usually happens when stripes are on the hood, top of the car or any part
horizontal with sun. I think you should be fine.

I bought an '03 Mach 1 brand new in 2003 (azure blue). Three years later I removed the black factory hood stripe and couldn't see any difference in paint color. I, too, live in an area without super hot/bright sunshine (Seattle).

I think you will be fine. Recently my buddy removed the stripes on his Mustang hood and no sign of mismatch color.

I removed the stripes off my Shelby Daytona after 10 years of always being parked out side and you couldn't tell. My wife had me put flame graphics on her PT Cruiser in 2003 I took them off in 2011 when I started driving the car and there was no difference in the paint color.

Thanks, guys. Much appreciated. Shopping for my side emblems this weekend (they'll replace the stripes).
