Once again, confused w/ wheels choice. Welds, Forgestar, Racestars

So I was set on getting some Forgestar F14's in titanium finish 20x9.5/12, then I saw the Racestar Dragstars 17x4.5f 15x10r in polished and I was like dangit, I like those too... So I went back, and was set on the F14's again, then someone posted the Weld's Forged Black Anodized drag set-up, same sizes as the Dragstars, but more of a muscle look to them. While I was searching the JPC website for the Weld's I noticed one of the thumbnails looked off. Not bad, but not the size wheel that was listed...so I clicked it, but the large pic was actually just a stretched out small pic so you couldnt make out the details. The rears looked the same size as the fronts, but that wasnt listed on the website...so I started google stalking like crazy, and going through hundreds of images until I came to one that looked like the thumbnail I saw, followed the host directory and ended up on another forum, registered there and looked up the user, and it was someone from a performance ship I hadn't heard of, but is apparently big business...followed the trail of bread crumbs and viola! I found those wheels, and they are in face the same style of forged wheel, but 18" and get this... width and offset you want, made to spec. So 18x9.5/11 ~$630/ea. are looking like they are in my future. These look so sick. So just wanted you to know how much **** work went into finding these.

*cliff notes* Took a long time to find these **** wheels.

So these are the wheels I initially wanted, in a silver finish. Forgestar F14's.

This is the car and Racestars that made me change my mind.

Weld's that made me change my mind again.

And then after seeing that thumbnail and following it to find these...these are the Weld's that blew me away.

I like the wheels in the first pic, they would look killer in titanium finish on the new body-style. I also like the last set of wheels. I personally don't like anything in between the first and last set.

The last set of Welds are pretty nice. I hope 630 a pop is with tires installed.

I'm glad you didn't get the F14s, 'cause they make the Mustang look like some kinda furrin' car.

/Like your last choice, honestly.
//Not a big fan of the logos on the spokes though, but that's just me.

You haven't bought new wheels yet? What happened to the GT500 track wheels? I'm not into the drag look but the last set of Welds would look sweet on your silver 5 DOT 0.

Well you may not like what i'am going to say but i think you are going to be hard press to find a better looking rim than the brembos that came on your car stock . The wheel color goes with the paint on your car dam good .

I agree too. Now if American Muscle can make some 10" wide versions with the proper offset for the rear that would make a lot of owners happy.

The F14s look identical to the SVT 10th Anniversary Cobra wheels, in response to the haters. They're just all one finish rather than a silver lip/gray center.

Welds look badass.. and holy crap thats a tight fit on those brakes up front... while unfortunately not wide enough, my favorite wheel on a mustang is still the shelby razor (hence why i went nuts looking for a set to purchase)

I live in the Chicagoland area and there is a company I've heard of that will widen your stock wheels and refinish them as well. A buddy of mine has his 03 cobra wheels there having them widened as we speak. Ill find out the company name and the actual location and let everyone know.

I was just about to send mine off to widen out to 11", I have the 325/30/19's sitting next to the car right now...

Gonna do 325/30/20's instead.

Selling my wheels, returning the tires.

wow that sounds pretty badass.. please get pics too, and an approximate cost per wheel.

thanks!

I wonder how they do it... for example, the 19" BBP wheels, would they add a lip to make it some what of a deep dish wheel? Or would they just widen the wheel itself? (face would remain the same)

I really like those Forgestars. Personally, I'm sick of the wheels with the polished lip. That got played out a few years ago.

I abandoned the project. ~$550 for 2 wheels widened 2" each. They add inside the well, so the face is unchanged. A little math, and some spacers involved to get it to work due to offset, and available backspacing. PM me.

Here's a photo of a wheel that's been widened. Terry is also a member here. Here's the link to his very well documented thread on his awesome Bullitt. It's quite doable but there are some compromises that come along with widening a wheel.

Well no luck yet on the name of the company. My buddy is in afghanistan right now and he is not easy to get ahold of. But I do know they widen it from the center. Keeping the face of the wheel. Obviously you can only go so wide before other drastic measures need to be taken. IMO the 325/30/20 would be my choice as well. I've heard a lot of guys say 20s are too big. I think that 20s look proportionate. I think anything smaller than a 19 on the new body styles looks too small. IMO- just sayin

Unless your drag racing why would you want tiny drag wheels with huge drag rubber??? And the forgestar wheels are sweet but super expensive!! That's why they are used on high end sportscars like Porsche's....but if your rich or like owing money than get them they are sweet!!!
