Installing Ford OEM louvers
Installing Ford OEM louvers
I ordered a set and was wondering about this one item included in the box for the install.
Has anyone install these and if so can you elaborate on what this is for and how its applied?

Yeah I guess its an adhesive but the diagram that came with its just shows the window shape adhesive with a pair of scissors. No written direction. Its like IKEA furniture. I will post the diagram in a few so you see what Im talking about.
You need to run the adhesive tape all the way around the perimeter edge of the louvre until the end of the tape meets the other. DO NOT try to skimp and just add selective pieces of 3M tape!! Look at the American muscle website or look on YouTube for the actual louvre instal.

I have never heard of a removable louvre. The 3M tape is your indication that it's a permanent modification. It creates a remarkably strong bond when applied correctly. No offense, do you want some kid ripping them off? (no pun intended) just watch the instal video!

You are correct. The Velcro is a great idea if it holds, doesn't hurt the paint, and doesn't show through the window.
I'm always open to new ideas but I am just concerned about the strength of the Velcro over time?? The 3M can take a bullet

Velcro is what they came with
Its shipped with the velco already on the areas where any type of double sided tape or velcro could be applied. These have 4 specific areas on the back where the tape can be used. So I understand that its were the tape goes. Its this other set of vinyl adhesive in the first picture of this thread that looks like a template for the window.. Im just not sure what to do with it.

I have them on mine the peice is a template to line up the spots to but the velcro on the window I just cut out the indented spots on the piece lined up on glass and it lets you see where to but the velcro
Read the Roush louver install directions. It's done the same way.
You put the template on the car with small piece of tape just to hold it. Then you put masking tape parallel to the template, right up next to it but not on it and only 3 sides. Now remove the template and you place the actual louver between the tape on the car with red tabs hanging out. When it's in the right spot you pull the tabs and it sticks.
It can be done the same way with the Velcro.
