Does anyone know how to take off the stock mirror cap??

 

Just grab and pull towards the front of the vehicle. It will simply un-snap.

 

That's an oversimplified explanation. You do have to use some force to pull it off and there is always a chance of breaking the retaining tab. Don't remove unless you have a replacement to put on, otherwise you risk driving around without one lol.
