I have them and they are great if you have a fiberglass or other light weight hood. I recommend do not get the ones with the cable. It wears on the paint and has to be replaced from time to time because the protective coating wears off and the ends start to rust.

While I'm still confused what the hood pins are and what they are for (to hold the hood?!), I wanted to get them anyways because of how it gives the 'race car' look. Do they attach like a magnet or has to be drilled? Still, they look a lot nicer with the cables on them but never thought it'll scratch the hood - something to stay away then, hmm.

As far as mounting them as far out as possible... eh, remember at high speeds the air pressure builds under the hood creating a lot of lift! Depending on the material strength of you hood, you want some support in middle so the uplift doesn't shear the pins right through the side of your hood! The original hood has a latch in the middle. Id suggest putting them towards the side, but not as far out as possible.
I would say no further out than ^^ this on. Maybe slightly more inwards (if you don't have a hood like karman's) like right inside of the headlights.

This thread is almost a year old but i am reviving it. I need pins as my hood flares upward a bit out towards the edges at about 140.
Has anyone installed these Aerocatch or similar pins on their cf or fiberglass hood?

while they look awesome, there's ALOT involved in the installation, including extensive dremeling. not sure if i am up to that much cutting. I do prefer the type without cables though, to avoid scuffing the leading edge of my hood.
Newer members have any suggestions?

I installed the Ring Brothers kit, very easy to install. Only need to drill the center pin hole. The round plate just gets double sided tape to the hood so you don't have the usual three or four small mounting screws and extra holes in the hood. Wires are not required but I wanted that look.

Your instructions are very thorough.
