If you must do it, don't go dark. Make it where it's hardly noticeable and be prepared to fail vehicle inspections if you have them in your state.
I agree, but I love the look of tinted tail lights..... Mine are staying they way they are as I can see here in Phoenix getting hassled by the man! LOL

Maybe a slight tint to the tail lights but nothing to dark would look good.

R.I.C.E. - Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements

Everyone knows that tint is a serious race enhancement. Thats why everyone that tints their windows are rice too... right?

He said "blacked out" not "tinted". By "blacked out", I figure he means the plastic covers. In a word - rice.

I suppose that if you want to get technical, EVERYTHING we do to our cars is R.I.C.E. Chin spoilers, side skirts, rear spoilers, light tinting, aftermarket gauges, wheels/tires, and exhaust (mostly applies to us V6 guys).

Unless you really like to have regular conversations with the cops about your lights, blacking out is a really bad idea.

Well our lights are bright as all get out so im sure tint or even a blackout would work fine. It all depends on the popo in your area

I had blackout. Looked loads better than tinting and was way cheaper and easily reversible. No cop ever said anything to me. I even pointed them out to a sheriff and asked him about them and he just shrugged it off. On the other hand some of my friends had ones that you couldn't see the light through at all. The cops got them for that but only bc he already had them pulled over for speeding too. I don't think it's rice, but that's just my honest opinion. I know both sides

I plan on getting mine "tinted". Just because its a cosmetic mod does not mean its rice. If thats the case Saleen/Roush grills and any other body part added is rice.

The term "rice" is loosely based on whether the modification is "tacky" or not. I say loosely because some peoples definition of tacky is different than others.

IMHO, billet grilles are over-done, but that's just my opinion. I like the traditional honey-comb grilles with fog lights, but again, that's just my opinion.

Beyond that, the OP asked for honesty, and I honestly think the light covers look tacky, and thus, ricey. Tint (in moderation) is a different thing altogether. Since he didn't specify one way or the other, and since he said "blacked out", I just assumed he meant the covers.

In the end, it really doesn't matter at all what *we* think, it's what *he* thinks.

I personally dont like "billet" on a car, Im talking the polished/chrome stuff. I do like the Roush grill though, and my shorty antenna, they are blacked out and subtile. I believe most billet is for Trucks.

And this is exactly what I ment by rice being "loosely" defined. Does tacky always equal rice though?

Rice is usually defined as some ridiculous tacky obnoxious mod that looks/sounds/performs like crap haha. At least that's my definition

You hit it right on the head with tinting taillights or headlights
