GT Grille on V6 Help

Hi Friends,

I am in the process of installing GT Upper grille with fogs on my V6 . I had bought a Grille locally and fogs through the forum(on its way now). I pulled the grille out from my storage yesterday to clean it up. I was wondering where the fog lights are mounted on the grille. I couldn't figure it out . I thought I will wait out until the Fogs arrive and I will have a clear idea. I was restless this morning and tried to google some pictures of back of the grille with fogs and I my heart kind of sank. Picture 1 is the back of grille that I think have and Pic 2 is form google. Can you guys please suggest?
Thanks so much for help in advance!!!!

Picture 1 is a boss 302 grille that should have fog deletes instead and picture 2 is of a gt grille, so you may need to buy the bracket off of ebay.

No I'm not sure what picture 2 is. Mine does not look like that. My fogs stay attached to the car. I can pull my grille out just like picture 1. Picture 2 looks like they took the brackets out of the car and screwed them onto the grille somehow...

But yes Picture 1, the pic that the OP took, is definitely a Boss grille. OP, I know you're going to have to trim the lip off the back of that grille, as it's designed for the fog deletes, so it won't sit flush once you mount the fogs to the car...should be pretty easy with a dremel.

Pic1 is something I think I have that I tried to pull off of web. But now after you guys telling me its boss 302 grille, I remember mine is GT grille with Pony emblem on it.

Oh ok, but either way the Boss grille is almost identical. The second pic, it looks like they removed all the brackets out of the car, and just set them behind the grille. You're going to need to remove your front bumper to install the fogs. There's no way around that. You *can* just put the grille on with no fogs for now...but you need the GT grille surround too. The chrome V6 won't work with the GT grille insert.

My GT fogs attach to the grill, not the car. Looks identical to pic #2. It looks like OP is missing the bracket that fits just behind the grille that the lights attach to. My OEM GT grille came with it.

Strange. I, and many other here, can just yank their grilles off. The fogs are mounted to a headlight panel that stays on the car...

I have grille with the surround. And I am planning to remove front bumper anyways to install the lower fogs. I can do both at the same time. But, Do I still need the bracket for the fogs?

Sorry, If my questions are dumb. I am very new to all this. And I really appreciate all the help I am getting here.

Unless it's already attached to your car, yes.

I don't know if there was a change from 13 to 14, but my bracket isn't able to attach to the car, only the grille. I don't remember if it came off a 13 or 14 gt, I think it was a 13.

You need the GT grille surround. That's what I needed when I did this swap on my V6.

More than likely I don't think you need anything.

I have installed a ton of these and we sell a complete 'kit' version of what you are doing, so I am pretty familiar with all of the individual components needed.

The bracket in picture 2 behind that grille is already on your car. It comes on the car even if your vehicle did not come from the factory with grille mounted fog lights. It is part of the front end. That piece is what the fog lights attach to. As other posters said, the fog lights don't attach to the actual inner grille or grille surround. A lot of people assume they do because 05-12 Mustangs are this way, but it changed on the 13-14 cars.

I have only ever seen one 13-14 car that needed the bracket and that was because the previous owner cut off the fog light mounting points after removing the grille.

As far as the grille surround goes, you may need that, if the GT grille you bought didn't come with it. But I am willing to bet it did, because most of the aftermarket grilles are one piece where-as the Ford setup is an inner grille that snaps into the grille surround. In other words, most of the GT guys don't need their grille surround when they put an aftermarket grille in so they just sell the surround with the grille. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is if they just switch to a Boss 302 grille which re-uses the original grille surround.

Give me a call at the number below if you want to run through the list of things you'll need. I've done it a bunch of times so I can help you if something is missing. Also we sell the grille surround, wiring, etc separately if you need it.

Very nice!! Thanks so so much for clarifying this. I hope my car has this part. Coming to the grille surround, Yes it came with the grille I bought. I really thank every one on here who had tried to help and guide me. Jason , I will surely call you if I get stuck or have any questions during installation.

Thanks!!!
