General exterior stick-on install question
I've had some OEM side scoops sitting here forever and I'm thinking it's time to install them. My question really goes for anything that's stuck to paint. I've of course glazed/polished/waxed my car over the course of my time with the car. Do I need to strip that off before installing? If so, what do you use to do this?

1. Wash
2. Alcohol wipe of the contact area
3. Adhesion promoter
4. Firmly attach and hold for at least 60 seconds
This is crucial as the scoops will be under lots of stress with temp changes. This is the way you can assure a complete bond.
Do not wash the car for a week after the instal. Do not drive it for 1 day.

This is kind of what I was thinking of doing. Being that it's a very small area, wash with dish soap to fully strip it, attach the scoops, then re-finish around the scoops.
Also have some quarter louvres to put on, but that's just glass.

I'm assuming this goes without stating but just in case, DO NOT put adhesion promoter on your paint anywhere, it will ruin the clear coat. The adhesion promoter only has to go on the plastic scoops where the tape adheres to. Adhesion promoter is only used to make the tape bond to the plastic as it will stick to a painted metal surface without issue, as long as it is free from wax and dirt/dust.
