Hello,
I was just wandering what do the stripes mean that people are putting on the front fenders. I've seen them on the challengers stock and now on stangs. Does it matter if they face forward or back? Is there a different meaning for that too?

FIA stripes were used to differentiate track cars, usually by the same team with similar cars on the track. Originated with the Cobra I believe in the 60s but tons of track cars used them. Most people associate them with Grand Sport Corvettes, unfortunately. Don't think they really use FIA stripes on track cars these days.

No I don't, but would be cool. Just been seeing them on cars everywhere. I'm guessing if I just put them on my car it might be wrong?

 

Well, since Chrysler puts them on every car now (trying to be hip) it sort of diluted the coolness factor. Mustangs can and have worn them in the past competing in actual FIA sanctioned races. You have to do what you want to do though, it is your car. You could always join the FIA to add some legitimacy.

Also, I assume that is your 5.0 in your avatar. Nice looking ride. What color would you do FIA stripes if you were to add them?

 

Well actually want to do a little more research on the stripes and see what teams had what color and what type of stripes there were. Like are there different sizes, certain way to face them, stuff like that.
Maybe I will look into the FIA stuff, do have the track pack on the car and should try to use it on a track then.
For the color unfortunately that I wanted to do is the bright green, like the monster energy drink green. Kinda my favorite color and something that would stand out, plus wanted that as my accent color through the whole car.

I was thinking more of right over the wheel bend and hood, wasn't going to put any on the hood. But was also thinking of spraying the plasti dip under them just in case I don't like it would be easier to undo. Where did you get yours ssstang67? They look pretty cool, and I do like your convertible.

Bella they look great but Im a lil bias. Thanx Dino.....I bought my car with them on but I assume they are just imitation Dodge RT stripes. No reason for plasti dip as when you put them on they will come off petty easy esp in summer sun.

 

Those wheels are interesting. I'd like to see the whole car and at different angles.
