Won't work with your plate placement, but it is possible to make it functional (and symmetric )

Haven't yet installed, but the guy selling the kit on that Shelby site includes grade 8 bolts, quite beefy. The bumper on stock GTs isn't reinforced like the race models, so care when extricating from any off-track excursion is needed, but it's better than hooking up to the subframe or worse.

Using a proper vehicle recovery technique that won't risk serious injuring or killing someone, with properly reinforced hardware is a better idea. The thin sheetmetal that a bumper is made of is nowhere near strong enough; it doesn't matter if the bolts are grade 8 when they rip through the sheet metal bumper and that ring becomes a projectile. I've seen vehicles sustain major damage, and know of at least two people from my Jeep clubs/forums that have died while trying to do un-trained vehicle recovery with shoddy hardware or improper techniques, with that ring ending up splitting the melon of the person attempting the recovery when it ripped free and snapping back in one of the cases. It's nothing to play around with.

No doubt -- this would be just for flat towing for a dead car, on or close to the track. Definitely not made for winching out of a ditch or up a hill. Though it's not a simple sheetmetal support, either -- the guys in that thread that did the install said the drilling part was quite difficult.

It is possible to buy the reinforced bumper support from the FR500, don't know what it would be like to install, though.

Assuming the person's still conscious, directing the recovery efforts is always a good idea.

are there any decent bolt on or clean weld on tow points for the front end of this car? maybe some that don't involve butchering the bumper and prove to be functional?
