discusted with fords warranties and service

This may be the wrong section but I do need some help with this matter.

To start off about a month ago I purchased my first and will probably be my LAST ford product. I bought a 2010 grabber blue mustang gt premium with 22k on the clock. About a week ago I notice underneath my hood where the lf fender bolts to the body and also on both areas where the struts mount to the paint is oxidizing and is physically bubbling up and falling off. In a week it has spread to about 2 square inches per spot. Well today I took it to my dealer I purchased it from and showed theme the damage and see if it could be repaired.

Well the answer I got was short and sweet. Its under the hood and they wont do a thing about it. I told them well thee car is only a year old and I lurched the 2000 dollar paint coverage for the vehicle and I would like it fixed. The exact phrase I was told was this by the manager "its a used car,all mustangs do it and my warranty doesn't cover the paint under the hood." And if I want it fixed ill have to pay for it personally out of my own pocket. And when I question them about the warranty and a refund. He said tough luck its a used vehicle your paint warranty from ford is 1 yr and the warranty I purchased doesn't cover oxidation.

Now let me explain this. Im 20 yrs old and a diesel mechanic. Im getting married and moving soon so I wanted a newer reliable fun car for me and my future wife to have and be proud of. I've never been a ford man but I did fall in love with my stang so I took the dive and purchased my "first" car by myself. And im discusted with the service, attitude and way im being treated. He looked down on me due to my age and thinks he can walk all over me. Please if anyone can help me in anyway I need it. I don't want a new car. I just want this solved. If it doesn't get solved I will NEVER purchase another ford product again and I will make sure other hear about my predicament. I do not have any pics due to im at work but I will post some tomorrow morning in the light.

thank you all.Deven

I searched "tsb hood paint" and came up with several threads. Many got it fixed by Dealer if within 3/36 bumper to bumper - doesn't matter that you bought it used, the warranty goes with the car.

Its not the hood. Its under the hood. And to the first remark. If you have nothing to say helpful then don't say anything at all. Thanks

Are there signs of prior repair from an accident? I would check into this as carfaxes (assuming you got one) don't reveal info re accidents not handled by insurance. Might be something the dealer didn't disclose. Might want to have it checked by another shop first.

OP, I would take it to another dealer if I were you. I had a similar issue on my 2005 GT and the dealer i bought the car from ..used with 18k miles would not fix it under warranty (car was 2 yrs old) but the dealer close to my house fixed it. Try a better dealer...

I am sure you will get this revolved. Hang in there and also I have been treated like that by high end other brands so if you love the car you can find the right people (not that dealer if possible) and get it fixed, you should. I would check for overspray and possible screw changes from possible respray as well. GL

I love these forums & they help me out more than even I know! Know what I've figured out in using them since about Feb of 03? 75% of the users are nothing but jerks that needs to be shot on site!! It's just the 25% that keeps me using these.

I was going to type how it's 'disgusted', changed my mind. Yeah, I've got nothing to contribute to your problem. Hope you learn stuff. Good luck!

I meant by that, I've joined to prob 20 diff forums? This is the only 1 I really use now! This site has great members, most forums have all a-holes as users. Cause this has been so good, brings down that #.

Clean car fax and my father in law is a body man and he looked it over tonite and has no prior indication of a wreck. The dealer tried to fix it after I threatened to call corbrate. The ******* put the wrong touch up paint color over it (looks like the color of the 03 style Mach 1) its 3 shades darker and they didn't even sand it down.. now it looks 5 times worse than it did. Looks like im going to call corporate Monday morning and tell them how crappy there dealers are.. im just floored on how they treat customers and how shorty there work ethic is. If this doesn't get resolved ill pay to have it done right and this is the last time ill own a ford. To bad too... I was going to get a boss one day..

Please remember that the crappy dealer you are dealing with is not FORD. As I explained above I had a similar issue on my 2005 GT and I took it to another dealer to get it resolved correctly. Don't blame Ford for the ills of a crappy service department at THAT dealership

Its not Ford as much as it is your Dealer. Like I said, do a search - there are several threads and some Ford TSB's on bubbling, rust under the hood, etc. If your Dealer is pretending it doesn't exist, they're liars. Find another Dealer. Also, Deysha from Ford is on this forum. Contact her. She has helped several people get their Dealer to pull their head out of their butt. Send her a PM. Her screen name is FordCustomerService.

Google "E46 BMW subframe dealer wont fix". Trust me it's worse when your frame cracks and they say "It's your fault beacause you changed the wheels and that made your frame fail".

Like they said, you're not really dealing with Ford...you're dealing with an individual dealership. I'd just find another dealership. The warranty is the warranty. Whether it's under the hood or not, they should fix it.

Cleaned this thread up a bit. Some people still have not learned how to play nice in the sandbox.

Try this if you get no satisfaction...file a formal complaint, against the dealer, with the local Better Business Bureau. You can do it on line and you will be surprised how quick their attitude changes.

Worked wonders for me with furniture we had purchased. The dealer was a jerk..until corporate received the BBB complaint.

Good luck and don't give up on Ford until the smoke clears and corporate has had a chance to weigh in.

It just frustrates me that a 1yrold car is treated like it's 5 yrs old and that im not getting the service I deserve and the warranty that I've purchased. Im going to another today and seeing what they recommend and that will determine my look on the company ad a hole. Fed is only as good as it's weakest leank. If that just happens to be the dealer I dealt wothvthen so be it. But i've purchased used cars before and the dealer always stood behind them regardless of male or model. Its pretty sad when you buy a ford from Ford dealer and I and treated this way. If I would of known this I woulof kept my old20004 dodge srt4 and I would have been more staisified than I am now

I hate to tell you, but that " extended warranty" you bought was most likely through a third party, not from Ford. That was basically throwing money away. The dealer is an agent for these companies, and they make huge money on it. If you paid $2000 for it, the dealer probably had about $200 dollars in it. They are worthless. Listen to Clark Howard on the radio about this scam. It's not Ford that is scamming you, its its the dealer that you bought it from. Like Charlie mentioned, this car is still under warranty from Ford, walk away from this crooked dealer. Go to a different Ford dealer and raise hell, if they give you the same crap, they are crooks too, and go to another one. Doesn't matter if its used, 3 years, 36K miles, it is covered through Ford.

Why do most dealers have to suck so much? And why doesn't Corporate headquarters care to keep them in line? Can't they see the bigger picture? Burn me and i'm gone forever.

+1. I have a dealer that is literally 5 miles from my house. I bought a car there in 2002 and it was a huge PITA full of shenanigans, attempts to deceive and at the end of the transaction they threatened to call the sheriff if I didn't return the car because THEY hadn't followed up with my credit union. I swore I would never go back and I haven't and if anyone asks they get an earful from me as to why.

Instead I go to a dealer about 20 miles away. They are EXCELLENT and have treated me like a valued customer from day 1, haven't played any games and were great to deal with. Even though they offered me the "upgrades" when I bought the car they were never pushy and took no for an answer the first time. A class act. Find a better dealer!
