Decklid emblem removal
Decklid emblem removal
Can anyone shed some light on how to remove the decklid emblem/faux gas cap? Trying to do a little custom plasti dip on it, but I want to do it right. Is there already a thread on this? Any help is appreciated!
The emblem is attached to the decklid panel which is removed but removing the two screws from the inside bottom corners of the trunk lid, then its all just clips holding it on. start in a corner and pull outward. hope that helps.
I have a 2014 GT and I plastidipped my rear emblem with removal! All I did was newspaper around the emblem: staying about two inches away from the emblem itself. This protects the rear decklid from overspray. Then I did about 4 light coats in black, and it came out perfect.

I did do a few other items on the car the same matte black. And they've held up pretty good this winter, and through about 10 power wand washes.
I received a set of the 3-slot MMD 1/4 louvers, pre-painted and I'm on the fence about plastidip ping them matte black or leaving them blue.
I could always peel the plastidip if I don't like it.
Sorry to the OP for jacking your thread.
Plastidip is very very versatile stuff.

I know it's an old thread but I'm hoping to be able to grab a 50th anniversary emblem to put on the back of my 2014. I'm still bitter about them not doing a 50th in the 2014 model year since all the other anniversary additions (25th-1989, 35th-1999, 40th-2004, 45th-2009) have been based on 1964 and not 1965.
