Changing smoked lens on Raxiom headlight

So I recently picked up a brand new set of 10-13 Raxiom smoked headlights for my '12 mustang from a guy on Craigslist for $175. I LOVE the look on my of the lights on my black PP stang, but as everyone know, light output on these is not the greatest. I installed a set of 35W 5000K HID bulbs, which IMO is a must when using these headlights. Problem is I work nights at the hospital and drive on a rural highway with no streetlights. Even with the HIDs the output is about that of the stock ones. Which leads me to my thought. I still have my old headlights and thought...what if i take the smoked cover off the Raxioms and replace them with the non-smoked ones from my stock headlights. Has anyone tried this? Looking at them side-by-side they look like they should fit. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure that they will fit, although I've never tried it with the Raxioms. If I were you I would ask Raxiom if the front cover is the same as the OEM front.

Thanks. That's a good idea. It would be great if it's a direct swap. Wonder how it will look.

Or you can just get some pre-cut tint for the factory lights with an HID kit and have the same output for a lot less money...albeit you will blind oncoming drivers for not having the correct HID reflector housing.

Yea, I really can't stand hid kits in reflector housings. Blinding the driver of a vehicle traveling 60 mph directly towards me just doesn't sound like a good idea 😬. I think removing the smoked lens will still give me the esthetic look I want with the light output I need. Going to contact raxiom tomorrow and see if the lenses are the same size as the factory.
