The only difference is that the ENTIRE spoiler is painted, unlike the OEM one that has the plastic trim underside...
Oh, you'll need to drill 4 extra holes. Maybe. I didn't, and it holds at 140+mph and some light touching from opening and closing the trunk.

I saw one of these spoilers at a car show this summer and couldn't believe how bad it looked. From 100+ feet it looks kind of like the factory spoiler but up close it is VERY different. I'd highly recommend you see the actual spoiler in person as I don't think that the spoiler in the picture is the exact part you will get.
Here is an unpainted OEM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-2...s#ht_500wt_956
Probably cost another $100 to paint

Why bother to buy it primered?

I also think it doesn't look very nice in person. 3d500 wing FTW.

We have a grabber blue 2011 MCA on order, which has an ETA of 1/27. I purchased the OEM pedestal for $289 and having the primered portion painted for $135, all at the dealership where I ordered the new stang. I also have a magnaflow axleback (#15595) and rear GT500 valence to install once the car arrives. Should look really sharp when it's done. I like that the underside of the OEM spoiler is black, especially with a contrasting color like grabber blue. I'll post some photos, hopefully in a few weeks.
Does the OEM pedestal spoiler require drilling or does it fit in the existing holes of the stock spoiler? I love the look of the spoiler but I'm afraid it'll cost a lot to get it painted and installed if there was additional drilling involved. There seems to be some conflicting info on different vendors sites about whether or not it uses the existing factory spoiler holes. American Muscle sells one stating it requires no drilling and uses the existing holes but others such as Ford's own accessories site says otherwise. They both look different though so I'm wondering if that's the case.

The lip spoiler (stock) has 4 screw holes drilled into the trunk lid already
The pedestal spoiler has 8 screw holes. If you want it fully secure, you will need to drill 4 additional holes.
Or do what I did and not even worry about it. Double sided tape + stock 4 holes and it's still on my car after 12k miles.

To install the OE pedestal spoiler you'll need to drill four extra holes down from the top of trunk lid, then very carefully use a 3/4" hole saw to open up the four holes from below without letting the hole saw touch or worse pierce the outer skin. The Ford Accessories Pedestal Spoiler comes with the necessary template to drill from the top. I really took my time, double checking all measurements before drilling and the install took 4 hours, including removal of the factory base spoiler. Below are some photos I took showing the existing holes and the extra four that had to be drilled. I personally wouldn't trust most body shops to do the job correctly, but that's me.

Great pics for reference. I may not get this spoiler right away but I'm glad to know it's not too difficult to install.
