Brake upgrade

Installed new Ford Racing SVT Brembo brake kit. Front 14" rotors, front Brembo 4-piston calipers with SVT pads, rear SVT pads, Goodridge steel lines, DOT 4 fluid. I needed this for the track, because while the stock brakes were good for the street, they got very mushy after several laps, and by the end of a track day, the braking zones became twice as long. Let's hope this cures the problem!

Money well spent. I prefer brake and suspension mods over a power adder for the road courses.

All good, Bill. Car runs great, next track day is in Dec (one of the benefits of living in the desert...weather!). I hope this brake upgrade does the trick. How are you and your gorgeous Red machine?

Doing well Pete. Thanks for asking.

I suspect that brake upgrade will be just what the doctor ordered......I know you're going to love every minute of it Pete.

All My Best Pete.------Bill

I would definitely be interested to see how these work out, but I would also suggest going with some brake ducts, especially in the desert.

Yes, that was on my list, too, but $ cost is a factor. I have the CDC front chin spoiler, and CDC makes a front brake cooling duct kit. Let's see how this goes first. I was hoping to control spending, ya know?

Well since the price of the cooling ducts is at most about 1/4 the cost of the Brembo kit, I figured it would be a much cheaper solution. At least take the dust shields off of the Brembo kit when you're at the track, that should give you some better airflow.

IMO, the cooling ducts alone would not do it, not with the stock brakes.

Congrats on the upgrade! Posts like this are the prime reason that I went with the Brembo brakes from the very start.

Yeah I was talking more as an auxillary thing -- we all definitely want to hear how they perform on track day though, so keep us posted!

Part # is Ford Racing M2300S - for the entire kit. It's on American Muscle (http://www.americanmuscle.com) for $1180. It's on CJ Pony (http://www.cjponyparts.com) for $1266. BUT...CJ has a rewards club where you earn points for purchases. I called them, and they matched AM's price AND and I got the points. Both sites offer free shipping and no tax.
