Adding GT500 Heat Extractor to 2012 V6 Hood?

Hey all, this is probably a question for my friendly neighbourhood bodyman, but I'd like to dress up my hood without a giant crazy scoop. I really like the heat extractor / front vent that the GT500 uses it seems a little more understated. Found this on ebay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-OEM-HOOD-SCOOP-ASSEMBLY-2010-2013-FORD-MUSTANG-SHELBY-COBRA-GT-500-/230995153456?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c8625230&vxp=mtr

Wondering if anyone has cut their hood to add vents already, and specifically if anyone knows if the 2012 V6 hood shape would accommodate this piece?

Any experience/ thoughts?

The GT500 hood vent sits in a recessed lip on the GT500 hood. If you cut the V6 hood for that piece, it would be sitting on top of the hood and not look as smooth. I did a google image search and found a white V6 that was done that way and it looks ridiculous.

Ahhh, that's good to know, THanks Scott. If you run across that pic and think about it, could you throw it into this thread? I'd love to see it.

Thanks!

Thanks guys. Just bought a GT front bumper cover to swap out the V6 Pony Package front end, but car is still on a slow boat from Germany for another 2-3 weeks so I have time to figure things out.

I assume I'll need to buy a corresponding GT500 front end/bumper cover to mate with the hood?

Well, only if you have a 13-14. 10-12 have a different hood/bumper and with those models you need a new bumper. Either a 13-14 GT/V6 bumper or a 10-14 GT500 bumper.

I have seen the GT500 hoods as low as $400 as a take off. I wish they were that price close to me, but I think the one I found was in Texas. I'm afraid that it'll either get damaged in shipping or the cost to ship will out weigh the savings. Here's another I found on this website, but in silver.

Agreed. The edges are supposed to be sitting in the lip not on top. Like below. that after market looks so ADD-ON

That's not an aftermarket piece. That is a GT500 vent. It just doesn't fit the hood very well.
