2013 Tail Lights In A 2012
I just did this photoshop of a 2013 rear bumper & Taillights on my car.
Looks pretty good I think!
I will have to blackout the rear sides though to make it flow with the Side skirts!
THoughts!?

It's hard to see the flow of the black side skirts with the blacked out color you would need to consider for this match-up. While I suppose one could take a 2013 and color the side skirts, I appreciate the effort that was made. Also, since there is a different spoiler and other changes, it's nice to see how everything flows together.

Thanks for posting - nice effort! I have also considered this conversion and would love to see how it looks on my 2010 as well.
And you have the different textures to work with too since the side skirts aren't completely smooth. And the "diaper" on the 2012 rear flows better than the lines on the 2013 rear
Looks great in the PS, but once you have the skirts in white it may not flow right.
I'd like to see a car where just the rear was done.
It doesnt look terrible...but the difference in teh rear sides matching the side skirts wodul bother me!

I had not intended on painting the side skirts....but I may have to if I switch bumpers!?
I may just shell out the money for the 2013 taillights themselves and deal with the gap for now. Might Paint teh gap Black to make it less noticeable!? Who knows everything is trial and error right now.
Attached is the same pic as above...but with the rear sides painted to match the side skirts.

After looking at the 2 pics I say leave it man, your car looks so clean as is. It really does. The 13 rear end looks cool but I see it all to often now. I also like that bit of red from your taillights in your scheme it looks like you ment for it to be that way because of course if you wanted them black they'd black between all the covers out, paint, tint etc
Had anyone that has gotten the 2013 lights thought about going to a body shop and seeing what they can do with the gap? Maybe plastic weld on the lights on the back side smoothed out and painted gloss black?
I would be curious to see what others might have done to reduce the visual influence of the gap. However, I think all 3 elements together really transform the car, rather than just the tail lights themselves.
I'd take the gap but from what I've seen on the forums there was a set of 2013 taillights floating around with a completely different modular plug than the 2011-2012s so I'd be hesitant to drop too much on them. FYI
That was one set..there have been 4 other sets I know of personally that have had no issues. Mine should be here next week (decided on taillights only, no bumper for now) with hopefully the right connectors. If not the conecctors can be ordered separately through Ford.
