2013 Tail Lights In A 2012

I guess I will be the first to ask, will it be possible to swap 2013 tail lights into a 2012?

I'm sure nobody knows for certain yet but it seems like the housing is the same. I wonder if the wiring will plug in...

You would also have to change the entire bumper cover.
The bottom of the lights are a different shape

My guess is that by mid summer there will be a "kit" for this swap.
I myself like the GT500 rear and would do that in a heartbeat if it is going to be possible for a decent price.

I've Never hated the current 2010-12 rear end though....liked it from the beginning actually.

same here. I like the rear, but if I could put on the shelby rear (minus quad exhaust set-up) I wou\ld do it in a heartbeat. the front...not so much...

It really looks like a very slight, if any change in the rear bumper cover around the tail light area......the lower part does look to have a different shape. The rear looks tall also.....

Still stickin' with the '11 GT/CS......

I think the "trick" will be the control of the lights. Perhaps a kit will address this.

Well, I've been thinking about this for a while, almost immediately after I heard some rumblings that there were some changes coming for the rear. Basically, it's my understanding that little has changed. Most likely you'll need the tails themselves, wiring harnesses for each (which may contain the control module for the light), and the bumper cover. It appears that the only edge that has changed on the lamp shape is the bottom edge that contacts the bumper cover. Your existing rear side markers and license plate lamps should carry over to the new model.

I'm not sure how the reverse LEDs are set up. They may work off of a different voltage for each color, or a controller. We won't know until someone gets the chance to tear open the back side of a '13 and look for themselves.

I will add myself to the list of people who would prefer to shed the 2011-12 ugly rear end.

I don't mind the rear on my 2011 but would love to be able to add the lights from the 2013.

The new tail is gorgeous... but I don't believe in mixing body styles, personally...and after having the bumper cover painted, and all of the other parts that you'll need to buy, you're probably going to be in for over $1000.... I'd rather spend that on go-fast goodies.

The other question is- how many 2013 owners will want to swap for the 2010 nose?

If they would fit I'd consider it. I want to see what they look like lit up. Are they seen from space like how our current ones are? I can't tell you how many times I've looked in the rear view mirror to see people shading their eyes..

I think if Ford had used the '10-'12 front with the '13 rear it would have been PERFECT

I would change the whole rear just for that tail light and I don't even have a 2012!
