Not wanting to have a "Boss 302" reference on a GT, I ordered stripes from ProMotorStripes which were custom adjusted to give the hockey stick shape and allow for the GT emblems on my 2010 to be put back on, which of course fills the holes.

No, but it seems we are talking about Boss style stripes regardless of whether they have Boss lettering on them or not. I love the stripe style but i would leave the Boss 302 lettering off and not pose, just as I did for my 08 model.
Word of advice - what other people would or wouldn't do on their car should have no bearing on what YOU would or wouldn't do on your own car. If you like the Boss 302 stripe kit, put it on your car. If you don't want it to say "Boss 302", get a stripe kit that doesn't say "Boss 302".
The dealer where I bought my car can create custom stripe kits in any color you might specify, on-premises, and they make many variations of the Boss stripe kit (they recently made on that said "BOSS 3.7" for a customer).

I had custom lettering BOSS MCA stripes put on my Race Red car. Every person that comes up to me asks what the MCA stands for and when I tell them Mustang Club Of America, their response always is...."aaaaahhhhhh". And the stripes look really good on the car. I'll take the wrath of the disapproving and post up the pics sometime soon.

I am all about personal taste, but for me personally, I would never want my car to be the butt end of any joke, so I don't go against the grain too much.

Oh man... I thought MCA was cheesy enough to begin with. BOSS MCA is in another league. That's right up there with boss light and gt-tp.
