V6 Tune Questions
The primary reason I would consider a tune is to make the car more responsive, but if I did go with a tune I would want to deal with the limiter as well. I will probably not do anything until my warranty expires. The gain would not be worth the risk of a denied claim should something fail.
So now I'm trying to understand the functioning of the drive by wire system and am harking back to my programming days. I assume that when I press the accelerator all the way to the floor there is a WOT signal sent to the computer. The computer then sends a signal to the throttle body to open, but it must not be to open too wide. The car begins to move and you can hear the engine start to rev, but it is obviously not at full throttle. There must then be a timing delay programmed into the computer (I can only assume it has to do with either emissions or fuel economy, or possibly something to do with valve timing). Following this delay the computer sends the instruction to the throttle body to open all the way. Now we get some serious sound and motion. I then assume that a tune that eliminates the throttle response delay must (putting things very simply) eliminate the initial signal to partially open the throttle body and the timing delay and have the immediate response to the accelerator signal be a signal for WOT. Does this make sense?

I also have an article somewhere about manually adjusting the sending unit at the go pedal.
I bought an SCT X4/SF4 with three Bama tunes (street, performance and race). I've only tried the street tune so far and the difference is incredible. Throttle response is much improved and shifts are crisp. I'm very pleased and can't wait to try the race tune this weekend.
I'm likely pulling the trigger on a tune mid-next week. Any other considerations before I do?
On a somewhat related note, are there any cheap solutions to clean up the air intake box/tubing short of buying a $300 cold air intake? From what I understand there's almost zero performance gain from one...I just want it to look cleaner under the hood, primarily that gross chamber growing out the side of the tube...looks like a freakin' tumor. Can that just be replaced with a straight pipe?

I'll be buying tomorrow, and unless some new information sways me elsewhere, I'll be going with Steeda. I guess I'm going to go with the SCT X4 since it's only $20 more then the X3...

What kind of new information are you looking for bro? Why not just go with Steeda like you said and be done. I run a Steeda tune and its good. I prefer my MPT tune a bit more over my Steeda tune but nothing wrong with Steeda. Those guys do a great job and provide a safe, reliable tune that will kick your pony into high gear.

Is there any way to get the PCM code without the SCT unit? I'd like to expedite the process as much as possible, would be nice to not have to wait for the unit to arrive to get that and send it in.
I'm pretty set on Steeda, just saying I'm not exactly going with them no matter what. I doubt anything will change my mind...but you never know.

Ok so I have been looking into a tune to get the best out of my current mods. Noticed that the SCT is not compatible with Mac. Not really a tech guy at all but could use some help to point me in the right direction.
I think all current Macs support running Windows. I don't know what versions are supported, but if it allows XP, that is pretty widely available for free around the web (just make sure it's an authenticated version, and that it's not malware).
